The Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West, Anglican Communion, The Rt Rev Olusola Odedeji has said the first session of the 9th Synod of the diocese slated to begin on May 16 will be an agenda-setting Synod.
He made this known in a statement signed by Mr Tunji Ogunrtuase, head media team of the diocese and made available to Church Times.
Odedeji said: “Our Diocese has, by the grace of God, made remarkable progress in the past 25 years. We have no intention of relenting, and this Synod will set the agenda for the next three years and beyond.”
The diocese was established in 1999 and has since maintained a pride of place in the Church of Nigeria and Anglican Communion worldwide.
Bishop Odedeji is the second Bishop that will oversee the diocese since its inauguration. The first Bishop was the late Rt Rev Awelewa Adebiyi. God used him to build a strong foundation for the diocese.
The diocese has continued to make appreciable progress both in its infrastructural development and the saving of souls to God’s kingdom since Bishop Odedeji took over in 2013.
The Annual Synod of the diocese will hold at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral
The 4-day Synod will start with an opening service that will be attended by Bishops of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Community) and other dignitaries.
Bishop Olusola Odedeji, who will preside over the First Session of the 9th Synod, has said far-reaching decisions to guide the Diocese will be taken in the business sessions.
When Bishop Odedeji delivers his charge on Friday, he will examine the state of the nation and review progress made since the last Synod.
