Peter Obi @PFN confab says, “It is prayers that have kept Nigeria till today”

by Church Times

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has said it is prayers of the saints that have kept Nigeria one till today.

He made the assertion on February 10 at the 17th biannual conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Yenogoa Bayelsa State.

Obi was introduced to a large number of pentecostal leaders and allowed to give a brief speech at the conference.

He said he had few things to say to the people since the leaders of the fellowship had preached the word.

While stressing that it is the prayers of the church that has kept Nigeria, he pleaded with the church leaders to continue to pray for the country.

He said, “I want to urge you to please continue to pray for Nigeria. It is your prayers we are enjoying as a nation. It can only be imagined what would have happened to Nigeria without your prayers.”

Obi then asked for the church to pray concerning the 2023 elections.

 He itemised three prayer points.

He asked the church to Pray for somebody with character to be elected in the 2023 presidential elections.

He also asked that “the church should pray for somebody who respects our religious rights to be at the helm of affairs. We should also pray that God will touch the heart of politicians to use public money for the public good”

After the requests, the President of the fellowship, Bishop Wale Oke prayed; mentioning those items Mr. Obi raised.

The conference attracted all the big names in the pentecostal circle including Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop David Oyedepo, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, and a host of others.

Adeboye had preached a sermon titled More than conqueror. He told the conference that “If God be for us nobody can be against us including demons and witches because we have been given the power to cast them out. If God be for you it is only you that can be against yourself.”
