The Christian Conscience Group has urged politicians to shun politics of division but rather should promote unity, mutual respect and equal opportunity in the country regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion or region.
This was made known by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tunji Oguntuase in a press release jointly signed by the group’s National Chairman Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Akinluyi, and National Secretary Revd. Dr. Kolawole Verrals.
Why the call
.The call according to the group has become necessary as political parties begin mobilising for campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the release, “Politicians should see our diversity as a weapon of strength, not a source of division. Everyone should be concerned about the stability of the nation Nigeria.
It urged that unity should remain the watchword, warning against a politics of bitterness that runs contrary to democratic principles and ethics.
It states, “A healthy nation is united in its diversity”
The Christian Conscience also commended security outfits , the military and intelligence operatives for their courage in securing the release of the abducted school children and teachers in Orire town in Oyo state, while also commiserating with families of those that died .
It however urged the security the aagencies to apply the same energy and intelligence-driven approach to rescue other captives held across the country.
