West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS) has concluded plans to host a three-day Discipleship Conference designed to equip church leaders with practical and biblical tools for developing effective and sustainable discipleship processes within their local congregations.
The conference will be facilitated by Dr. D. Z. Cofield of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, USA, alongside his team of seasoned ministers and discipleship practitioners with years of experience in developing and strengthening discipleship ministries.
According to a statement from WATS, the conference running between Wednesday 14th and Friday 16th October, will provide participants with biblical insight, practical guidance, encouragement and inspiration as they seek to establish, strengthen and improve discipleship processes in their churches.
The Seminary said effective discipleship goes beyond increasing church membership, stressing that it involves intentionally helping believers grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, understand the Christian faith, live out biblical principles and become equipped to disciple others.
To make participation accessible to church leaders and ministry workers, WATS said it will provide several benefits at no cost to participants. These include free lunch, accommodation, conference materials and books, medical services and other conference benefits.
The Seminary is therefore inviting pastors, church leaders, ministry workers and others passionate about fulfilling the Great Commission and raising committed disciples of Jesus Christ to participate in the conference.
WATS believes healthy and spiritually vibrant churches are built through intentional discipleship and that the Church in Africa can become more effective in fulfilling Christ’s mandate when its leaders are properly equipped to make disciples who, in turn, make disciples.
The Seminary said the conference will provide an opportunity for learning, spiritual renewal, networking and practical engagement in the ministry of discipleship.
WATS also encouraged church leaders and ministry workers to participate actively and apply the knowledge and tools gained from the conference to strengthen discipleship in their respective congregations.
The Seminary according to the statement states that it remains committed to training men and women for holy living, carrying the Gospel to the unreached and catalysing national spiritual awakening.
