Convey national youth summit, group urges President Buhari

A group, Young Voters & Mobilisers Association  of Nigeria (YVAMAN) has called on President Mohammadu Buhari to convey a national youth summit to address some of the issues causing restlessness in the country.

The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Segun Nelson, and made available to Church Times said the summit had become imperative because “the ‘leaders in this country have failed us woefully in all aspects of governance. Hunger, unrest insecurity, banditry and protest are now commonplace in a country that used to be the Giant Of Africa.”

The statement noted that those who are supposed leaders in the country no longer have the moral justification to speak for the generality of the people especially the young population.

“They cannot speak on our behalf and did not have our mandate to do so. They don’t feel our pains. They have siphoned and wasted our fortunes continuously. Hence, they have no moral justification to speak for us anymore.”

The group then insisted that there was a need for the Presidency “to convey a National Youth Summit so that the agitations of all the teeming Youths in this country can be harnessed and addressed forthwith without delay.”

The State Governors according to the statement are also urged to convey same summit in their respective states to ensure peace and calmness.

The group also appealed to all youths to get registered with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and get their voter’s card.

“It is high time we take our country back from corrupt and wicked politicians. Your vote is your power to change the narrative positively. Nigeria will be great again,” the statement noted
