“n the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” — Genesis 1:1-5 KJV
Anything that does not align with the will of GOD for an individual, family, community, or nation can be attributed to the works of darkness.
Such things as sickness, poverty, insecurity, disappointments, failure at the edge of breakthrough, prolonged delays, and other difficult situations can make life unbearable.
When a person or family is battling unseen forces of darkness whose origins are difficult to trace, it is a sign that it is time to decree that Light should shine upon that situation. For GOD Himself is the Light that shines in darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. John 1:5 KJV
When a life lacks clear direction — moving in cycles without appreciable forward or upward progress — such a life is under the dominion of the powers of darkness. It is only when GOD’S light shines upon that life or group that deliverance and freedom come.
In a macro setting like a nation, the rulers of darkness are said to be in charge when that society is plagued by prolonged security challenges and unresolved economic and political quagmires.
In a nation like Nigeria, we do not need a soothsayer or a prophet to tell us that we have found ourselves in such a situation for nearly four decades now.
We have been groping in darkness, caught in a web. The more we struggle to free ourselves, the deeper we sink into the mire.
This is a grievous time to live in: when servants ride on horses while princes walk barefoot.
It is a time when terrorists and kidnapping kingpins call the shots, dictate terms of settlement for assault, and violate and desecrate our land.
It is a time when those in authority are only trying their best, yet without clear-cut solutions to deliver us from our socio-economic and political wilderness.
Nonetheless, we must not despair or lose hope as long as heaven and earth exist.
We have this assurance: this season will pass if we turn our gaze heavenward and beseech the true Solution Provider — the Almighty GOD Himself — to give us succor and heal our land, Nigeria, holistically in Jesus Name.
For with GOD nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37 KJV
This is corroborated by the Lord Himself: Jeremiah 32:27 KJV — “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Answer: None.
On the strength of these declarations, and with the assurance that the Light — GOD Himself — shines in darkness, and darkness cannot overcome it, let us therefore decree over this Nation: “Let there be light in Nigeria,” and there shall be light. Genesis 1:3 KJV
There is no need to fear the hosts of darkness surrounding us. Our watchword must be: FEAR YE NOT, so that we may see the salvation of our GOD as declared in Exodus 14:13-14 KJV.
Shalom!
