Fada Oluoma: Govt parastatals and ministries should be self-sustaining

Catholic priest, Fada Oluoma has advised government to ensure  parastatals and ministries are self sustaining.

In a message on his Facebook wall on November 11,, Oluoma wondered why a Ministry of Agriculture for instance can’t generate its own revenue and pay salary of its staff.

He said many of the challenges facing Nigeria is as a result of impulsive spending and borrowing money to fund recurrent expenditures.

While stating that he was not canvassing that those working in ministries should be sacked, he said government should device a means by which these ministries will be productive.

He said, ‘it does not make sense to borrow money to pay salary of staff of some ministries.
