Sam Aboyeji joined several other dignitaries to pay glowing tribute to the memory of Rev Mrs. Victoria Boyejo who was laid to rest on Friday, February 12.

Rev Mrs. Boyejo was the wife of Rev James Boyejo one of the founding fathers of Foursquare Church in Nigeria. She died on August 16, 2020, in the US.

Badejo said in his tribute that his encounter with the late matriarch was one of the memorable moments he had while he was a senior pastor and District Overseer of Agege District of the church.

He said, “As a member of the church and worker, she loved the Lord and was committed to His service. As her pastor, she made me a confidant and shared with me, issues of her life. She was always willing to give me the much she could give in the service of the master.

“At the various post-conversion stages of her life, she left no one in doubt as to the fact that making heaven was a major priority for her. She was always willing to offer assistance as much as she could to people who came across her path…She was a bundle of inspiration and joy, a lover of peace.”

Rev Meduoye in his words described her as a “God-fearing woman who was committed to the service of her master, our Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was a pillar and support to Papa Boyejo’s ministry…”

In his own words, Rev Aboyeji stated that “mama Boyejo as she was fondly called was a mother indeed, caring, patient, full of endurance and long-suffering. A pleasant woman of God who loved God with a passion.”

Boyejo: Tributes from the children

Mr and Mrs Kayode Opebiyi

The two children of the late matriarch, Mrs. Olabisi Opebiyi and Mr. Meshioye Oladimeji who were born in her first marriage to Mr. Akanbi Meshioye described their mother in glowing terms.

Opebiyi states, “She was a strong woman of discipline which had an impact in her life. She lived a life that was full of joy, love, and happiness. Even when she faced so many challenges in her life, she overcame them with intelligence and courage.

“God saw her getting tired,  He put His arms around her and whispered to her, come to me for eternal rest. She knew Christ and served Him till she breathed her last breath. She died on a Sunday night and I was told she taught in the Sunday School earlier that day. She brought her children up in the way of the Lord and I am especially thankful that I made her proud.”

Her son, Oladimeji Meshioye said he wished she would return adding however that he has taken solace in the fact that, “We shall be united at the feet of your master whom you graciously and dutifully served till the end, on the day of resurrection…”

Her son-in-law, Kayode Opebiyi said in his tribute that she had a wonderful relationship with her describing her as a devoted Christian who led by “good examples, showing the children the way of the Lord.”

He wrote further, “My mother-in-law was everywhere for us….She was nice to everyone around her, making all feel home is home.”

Mrs. Kehinde Meshioye, daughter-in-law of the late Rev Mrs. Boyejo expressed regret about her demise wishing she had the last opportunity to relate with her.

She wrote, “you understood me more than I thought I did myself and your wise counsel would forever resonate within my deep subconscious. Distance was never a barrier as you were always there for us as if we were under the same roof. You touched so many lives with a true love that is divine and you mend many bridges.”
