The Consequence of Rejecting the Word of the Lord
By Moses Oludele Idowu
“Because you have rejected the words of the Lord, the Lord also has rejected you from being king over his people….”
Those were the words of Prophet Samuel to King Saul. Immediately he turned his face to go after pronouncing the word and verdict of Heaven.
As Saul took hold of his garment to stop him the cloth rent on his hands. And Samuel told him, “The Lord has rent the kingdom from you today and has given the kingdom to a neighbor of yours that is better than thou.”
It is a serious thing to reject the Word of the Lord and the counsel of Heaven. It is a tragic thing. The Pharisees rejected the counsel of Heaven against themselves by rejecting the baptism of John the Baptist.
Having missed that they also missed the Messiah when He finally appeared because Truth is progressive; once you miss it in one area you continue to miss it everywhere until the mercy of God intervenes.
This is the state of many of our churches today.
It is a blessing of God, a special blessing to be endowed with spiritual gifts. It is even much more a greater blessing for a church to be endowed with ministry gifts like Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers and helpers and singers etc. It is the greatest blessing that Heaven can give to Earth.
In the Providence of God one Church was blessed with all these gifts more than any other. I am a researcher and I dare anyone to contradict me. I do not know a church in Nigeria or anywhere in Africa that has been blessed with spiritual gifts and ministry gifts like CAC. I DO NOT KNOW OF A CHURCH THAT GOD HAS SCATTERED HIS GIFTS OF ALL KINDS INTO THEIR MIDST LIKE CAC.
However, the point of strength can also be a point of weakness. The place of miracles can become the place of disaster. God has His Order and it is clear in the New Testament. All the gifts have different functions but one is not more special than the others. Just as the hand is not more important than the eyes or legs. All are important.
However along the line CAC began to miss it in this area by emphasising and privileging one gift above others; enabling one and sidelining others.
Of all those gifts the Apostle is the number one and head of the pack. Next to him is the prophet, then evangelist and pastor and teacher in that order. However, in a local assembly the pastor is Supreme and head just as a governor is the head within a federating unit. But a pastor is not greater than a prophet, evangelist or even Apostle. God forbid.
However this divine order began to change in the CAC spiritual economy and arrangement of hierarchy. Along the line the prophet, evangelist and even the apostle began to be emasculated making the pastors the governing authority. Rejecting the counsel and ordination of God as prescribed in the Bible about spiritual hierarchy the pastor became the sole and main ministry gift recognized.
It was so bad and it became so bad that genuinely called evangelists, prophets have to leave their lines and cadre to cross to the pastor cadre so as to reach the top and control power in CAC economy.
The Pharisees exalted their traditions above the Word of God; the modern Church including CAC exalts its traditions above the divine order of Church Government. That is the beginning of the crisis that our churches are now enmeshed in. That is the root of the spiritual power crisis that has engulfed Nigeria.
There are battles that pastors cannot solve,no matter how endowed they are. It is not their stuff. There are conflicts they cannot face because it is not their cup of tea. Apostles and prophets are God’s battle axes from time immemorial.
But now our churches do not want to hear of prophets again. They don’t believe in “Thus saith the Lord”. Except theory and homiletics and hermeneutic and degrees from universities that have not solved their own multi – dimensional crisis. Status that heaven does not recognize. That is how our churches lost power and CAC is at the top of this crisis.
In the next series I will show that CAC has persecuted every major prophet that has risen from among her.
This was from the very beginning but the founding fathers of CAC were great men..they still had enough leverage and space for the prophetic and the Apostolic.
Baba Odubanjo, Baba Akinyele, Baba Odusona…
Along the line a new generation arose who did not really believe in the gift of the prophetic. A former president once was reported as saying he never believed in any word of the Lord except what the Bible says.
I will reproduce a letter here to confirm what I am saying written by an old man whose father was a leader in CAC, a retired army officer.. If you want to know his identity you may contact me and I may give you.
What happened in 1990 was not the beginning of the crisis it was when the crisis blew open.
I received a letter from a reader who read the first part of the piece. His response confirmed what I have known all along. I will reproduce the letter unedited for you but hide his name

Re: Between Babalola and CAC by Evangelist, Professor Moses Oludele Idowu.
There has been an existence of communication gap between the Lord Jesus and the leadership of Christ Apostolic Church before the end of 1950s shortly after the glorious departure of Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola.
Among other revelations of the patriarch of the faith, was the one which was mentioned in this article exactly as said, ‘Seeing the mother of a child carrying it upside down’. The vision, like many others of its kind in the past, was pointing to the future of Christ Apostolic Church, as it is today.
Most of the laymen pastors of the Church today still could not understand the meaning. Those who started to misguide the affairs of CAC shortly after the departure of Apostle Babalola, who were there then, did not also understand the interpretation of the vision.
There came a time in 1969, I accompanied my father to the 7 days Quarterly Prayer Meeting of the Ministers of Ede District under the General Evangelist, Prophet Samson Akande (Bababiye) on the CAC Prayer Mountain at Iwoye.
A prophecy came through one of the daughters of Prophet Akande on one of the days seasons, saying that “the time will come, and it is near, when academic knowledge shall be exalted above the knowledge of God and the inspirations of the Holy Spirit which he the Lord used to establish his Church through his servants, starting from the Apostle Joseph Babalola. When that time comes, and it is near, the ‘awon alase’ will not want to hear, E gbo oro emi Oluwa (hear the words of the Lord).
The Lord asked Prophet Akande if it was the University Certificate he used in lifting him up, and he answered no. Whether he the Lord, did not see those who went to school before he called his servant Joseph?
He said yes! The Lord said,
”Therefore, warn these people not to _fi owo pa Ida mi l’oju (let them not rob their fingers on the edge of my sword)._
On his reviews of various prophecies that came, also through others, Bababiye said that, those ones that concerned the CAC Authority, he shall deliver them when they meet at the Conference.
Not long after then at Osogbo District Headquarters, when Pastor Yerokun, the District Superintendent returned from a Pastors Conference at Ibadan. During the Sunday worship at CAC Latona Street, on hearing “E gbo oro Emi Oluwa.” He grabbed the bell and rang it and said, “Pa enu mo.” At that, the prophecy came and said, “You that rang that bell, you shall be punished for it. Alafia fun yin, eyin enia me.” The service went on without direction.
That same week, the Church tower was cut down by thunder. And the bulk work was thrown down into a rumble. In the same season,
Deaths of pregnant women with hard labour were recorded after being unusually rushed to the General Hospital.
About 4 Catechists died mysterious deaths in the District – one was accidently shot dead by a hunter who mistaken him for an antelope when he was defecating in the bush while traveling.
Such were the situations in succession of occurrences. Prophet Akande had to climb the mountain with his team of Evangelists to seek the face of the Lord. All the District Evangelists with my father too had to be called upon to meet him on the Mountain.
Today, what do we see with Christ Apostolic Church? Article 9 of the Tenets of CAC says:
- The Administration of the Church shall be by the Holy Spirit through the Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers.
This completes the Fivefold Ministry – Ephesians 4:11 – to edify the Church. The scriptures are clear about the schedule of hierarchy of Leadership. But in Christ Apostolic Church, it came “turning the head of the baby upside down”.
Today, in Christ Apostolic Church, the fourth minister in the position of servanthood under the Apostle, Prophet and the Evangelists is now their head (Alase) who usurps authority over them. He does not have to be born again. The academic certificates are enough; professional Engineering, Medicine, Accounting etc
That is the meaning of the vision seen by Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola- the woman who carried the baby with the head in invertion.
In 2002, when I was in Jos Plateau State, the Lord gave an instruction. That is what is going to happen to those pastors.

Notice the dates mentioned in the letter. Long before 1990 the struggle between pastors and prophets in CAC has escalated. If there is one thing I don’t like about the great Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola it was the fact he failed to fight that battle for those coming behind him. As a result many prophets, mighty prophet left this Church. Only Peter Olatunji fought that battle which Babalola himself refused to fight.
This is the root of crisis’ in CAC, the 1990 event was merely the spark of a fire that has been simmering all along under the bushel.
And in the CAC crisis Nigeria has found her own crisis and tragedy because CAC was the prophet to Nigeria. In the confusion and chaos that CAC has brought upon herself it has brought greater confusion and crisis’ upon Nigeria. This is why we are where we are.
In my next series I will go into the root of that crisis’ and the pastor – prophet dichotomy with facts and figures.
It is time to speak.
To all CAC FAMILY regardless of.your group, factions or segments
Happy Sunday to you ALL.
