Anglican priest makes case for the poor, commends Christ Morning Star

The Archdeacon of Agege and Vicar of Christ Church Anglican, Elere – Agege, the Venerable Tunde Owoyele has called on rich Nigerians to extend a hand of love to needy people around them and support the weak in the society.
He made the call at a recent ceremony organised by the Lagos Chapter of Christ Morning Star during which cheques were presented to support the education of children of some members of the society.
The organisation’s spokesman, Mr. Tunji Oguntuase, made this known in a statement made available to Church Times.
Venerable Owoyele presented the group’s cheques to the beneficiaries.
He expressed great delight at the group’s gesture while calling on Nigerians and other societies in the church to always think of the needy.
Owoyele said, “It gladdens my heart to present these cheques by the society to support the education of children of some members of the society. I strongly call on Nigerians who have the means and other societies in the church to emulate this gesture. “.
The financial support, according to Owoyele will go a long way to ameliorate the hardship experienced by the beneficiaries in the pursuit of their dream. “It is indeed a noble cause that all must emulate”, Owoyele said.
In his remark, the Chapter President of the Society, Star  Segun Sobowale said the financial support is the first phase in the series of projects lined up by Christ Morning Star.
Some of the students who benefited from the gesture are Munirudeen Samod Ishola of  St. Johns Anglican Church, Satellite Town, Lagos, and Oba David Chilem of Christ the King Church, CKC, Pedro Lagos.
Sobowale said the gesture will be extended to more churches in the next few months.
