WOWICAN Southwest plans 10th anniversary, set for greater heights

The Women Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) Southwest Zone,  has concluded plans to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The event will feature women empowerment, awards presentations, and investiture of dignitaries. It will be held between Wednesday, August 14, and Sunday, August  17 at the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, LAWNA Territory, Olorunda Ketu, Lagos State.
The theme of the four-day event is  ‘Repositioning Women For Growth and Development’
WOWICAN Southwest Chairperson, Most Senior Mother-in-Israel, Prophetess Odunola Raji-Adebesin,  in a statement made available to Church Times, said the theme was influenced by the situation in the country and prevailing negative perceptions about women’s roles.
She stressed that women deserve due recognition and positive appraisal.
Her words, “Without mincing word, the position of women in any social organization cannot be underrated and overestimated because. By the divine work of God, women are so important because of their meaningful contributions to the success of any association, organization, family, church, and community.
“Women are precious ornaments and magnificent creatures that are always ready to sacrifice whatever they have for the growth and development of wherever they find themselves. Hence, the need for them to be duly recognised,”
Speaking further on the recognition of women’s involvement in decision-making, she stated: “I want leaders at all levels to consider women in decision-making, especially in the sharing of positions either political or spiritual because what a man can do a woman can do better.”
On the state of the state of the nation, she noted: “The state of our nation is extremely bad. I want to advise the President to stand firm and take decisive steps in alleviating the suffering of the people especially in terms of hunger, unemployment, and security.”
