God created each of us for a specific purpose, for His glory. Only those who discover and fulfill that divine purpose can truly bring glory back to God.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)
This scripture reveals that God alone, not Satan, not man, predestines the purpose of every life born on earth.
Before Jeremiah was conceived, God had already designed a prophetic assignment for him. This truth still holds today: every human being has a God-ordained purpose, known only to the Creator.
Yet, many die without ever discovering it. Others discover it but are distracted by the cares of this world and fail to fulfill it. Some even lose their purpose to Satan due to fear of the unknown, sin, spiritual ignorance, and insensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
Why is the graveyard the richest place on earth?
The graveyard is the richest place on earth because it is where you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, and the solutions that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid or too distracted to pursue their God-given purpose- Unknown.
Les Brown once said, “The graveyard is the richest place on earth.” Dr. Myles Munroe echoed the same truth: “The wealthiest place in the world is not the gold mines of South America or the oil fields of Iraq or Iran. They are not the diamond mines of South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the planet is the cemetery.”
Matthew 25:18-30 reveals God’s intent for the skills, abilities, and resources He gives His people: they must be used wisely for His purpose. To do otherwise is to “waste our talents or purpose.” In the parable, the third servant claims that fear prevented him from embracing his talent. Jesus reprimands him for being unprofitable, wicked, and lazy, and casts him out into “outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth”, a clear picture of hellfire.
What was John the Baptist’s purpose?
Luke 1:39-41 (NLT) says: “God sent a man, John the Baptist, to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.”
Jesus declared His purpose
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:1–10). This salvation came through the pouring out of His blood “for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:26–29).
Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel of God, revealing Himself as the only Savior of humanity.
Jesus commanded His followers to align with His purpose on earth.
Matthew 28:18-20 records: “And Jesusj came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”
Apostle Paul revealed his vision and purpose.
When Paul stood as a prisoner before King Agrippa, he related what Jesus told him about his role: “But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness… to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” (Acts 26:16-18).
Paul concluded before the king: “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision, but shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.” (Acts 26:19-20).
My Purpose and Calling: A Personal Example
God’s purpose for my life is clear: to be consecrated from worldly pursuits and preach a message of repentance, intercession, and revival. He called me to stand apart from the materialistic gospel and unbiblical practices that have infiltrated the Church.
By divine mandate, I was sent to:Prepare the Bride of Christ for His second coming, Mobilize secret intercessory prayers for the nations, Stir repentance and awakening through publications and prophetic messages.
This mission began in Nigeria and, by God’s grace, has now touched many countries in the last 30 years.
The Revive Us Again Series and the emergence of Nigeria Global Intercessors were born out of this calling. I received this assignment during a 3-day prayer and fasting retreat originally intended for a business breakthrough.
Instead, I had a supernatural encounter with Jesus, who placed a prayer burden in my spirit for a coming revival in Nigeria. Since then, I have remained committed to that vision
Fulfilment of purpose.
In 2 Timothy 4:6-8 Paul shows us what it looks like to finish the Christian race faithfully. He exhorts us to “always be sober-minded, endure suffering, [and to] do the work of an evangelist”—soul-winning that fulfills our ministries.
The Damascus encounter:
On July 20, 1992, in Kano State, northern Nigeria, my life took a dramatic turn, much like Saul on the road to Damascus. I encountered the Lord in a miraculous conversion experience that led me to repentance and a new life in Christ. That moment marked the true beginning of purpose discovery in my life.
Until then, I was a lost soul, a man most miserable. But God, in His mercy, rescued me, and revealed my assignment: Reviving the dying Church and saving the lost souls.
Conclusion: Your Purpose Awaits Discovery
Friend, what is your purpose on earth? Have you discovered it? Are you walking in it, or have you been distracted, derailed, or discouraged?
God has a specific assignment for your life, just as He had for Jeremiah, Paul, John the Baptist, and for me. But you must seek it, surrender to it, and fight a good fight to fulfill it. Do not let the world, the flesh, sin or Satan steal your destiny.
“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Romans 8:19
Creation is waiting for your obedience. Heaven is counting on your alignment. Hell is threatened by your purpose. Arise. Discover it. Pursue it. Fulfill it.
