Galatians 1:6–9 (KJV)

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

The end time is replete with deception and biblical inaccuracies. It is therefore necessary for God’s people to begin to test the source of the river from which they are drinking. A lack of sensitivity to the events unfolding in our world, especially within the Church, exposes believers to the whims and schemes of the devil.

One of the deceptions the Church must be cautious about is the deception of “another gospel.”

The Gospel is foundational to our Christian faith. Failure to recognize its true essence exposes believers to serious spiritual danger.

For proper context, we must return to our anchor scripture.
The Apostle Paul addressed the Galatian church with deep disappointment concerning the infiltration of another gospel. With discernment, he warned the Church about a subtle corruption that had crept in to mock the true Gospel of Christ.

The word “gospel” comes from the Greek word euaggelizo , meaning “good news.” What makes it good is that it carries the message of a complete package of deliverance, and the convener of this deliverance is the Person of Jesus Christ.
In essence, the central focus of the Gospel is Christ and Him crucified. Deliverance was not accomplished outside the realm of the Cross. Therefore, the Gospel proclaims Christ, His death, His burial, and His resurrection, together with their redemptive significance.

Any doctrine, teaching, or message that does not reflect the Cross and the Person of Christ has lost the true meaning and purpose of the Gospel.

Paul made it clear that what was being preached was not another gospel, for there can only be one. Rather, it was a perversion of the true Gospel.

The word “pervert” in the King James Version is from the Greek word metastrepho , meaning “to corrupt.”
There is only one true Gospel, but it can be corrupted through false messages and false messengers.

The true Gospel points men to the Cross. When it is perverted, it points men to destruction.

The true Gospel points men to the Holy Spirit.
When corrupted, it points men to the flesh.

Beloved, what gospel have you been listening to?
Is it the unfiltered Gospel that breaks your heart in repentance and humility, or a distorted one that feeds pride and carnality?

Is it the Gospel that awakens compassion for lost souls, or one that promotes insensitivity to the ministry of reconciliation entrusted to all believers?

Is it the Gospel that aligns your spirit with the Holy Spirit, or one that feeds the flesh and empowers ungodliness?

Has the message you receive deepened your hunger for God, or increased your appetite for the world?
Has it strengthened your walk in holiness, or left you comfortable with sin?

Second Peter 2:1–3 warns of the rise of false teachers and the dangers they carry. The true Gospel always leads men to the Cross, and no one encounters the Cross genuinely without transformation.

The true Gospel matures believers because its focus is Christ, the One who builds men into spiritual stability in a perverse world. It does not accommodate the flesh, because Christ did not die to promote the flesh but to destroy its dominion over humanity.

Prosperity is a benefit of the Cross, but it is not the emphasis of the Cross. When wealth becomes the central message, it becomes a danger to the soul. If for years the emphasis has been only material gain, then the Cross has been neglected, the flesh has been fed, and the spirit has been starved.

There is still time. Run back to the Cross.
A message that only motivates but does not convict is dangerous. A gathering that leaves you unchanged and without hunger for God is not producing spiritual weight. If sin remains comfortable and transformation absent, it is time to flee.

The Charge
The charge is to escape before it is too late.
Jesus warned in Matthew 24:4 that many would come in His name and deceive many. These enemies of the Cross will not appear with obvious evil. They will appear as light, clothed in spiritual language and religious garments, yet within them lies destruction.

The word “deceive” comes from the Greek word planao , meaning to seduce, to cause one to wander, and to lead astray. The spirit behind a false gospel is a spirit of seduction, with the ultimate goal of drawing people away from the Way.
Jesus Christ is the Way.

Any message that draws you away from Christ and the Cross is not the Gospel.

Be discerning. Be like the Berean church, who searched the Scriptures daily to confirm what they heard.
Live prepared, for the Lord is coming soon.
“He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
