A United States based pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Dr..Olaniran Fafowora who pastors Jesus Embassy in Loss Angeles has made some observations about Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s position on the City of David Parish of the Church and the Trinity Tower claiming that the parish was never a tenant on the land it is located as insinuated by Pastor Adeboye
Fafowora made his position known on TheOpenPilpit channel monitored by Church Times
In the broadcast tilted, RCCG: A burial and a naming, he said the decision to quickly pay back the loan that was taken from Access Bank to build the Trinity Tower was not a good strategy by the church.
It was not a wise decision according to him since there was a payment agreement with the bank which was to span ten years. And moreso that the Trinity Tower was a business concern.
Fafowora also lamented what has become of the Apapa family of the RCCG citing some of the discussions he had with another Pastor named Dotun Kukoyi who was there in the early days of the Family
He recalled how they had to leave Nigeria for several parts of the world for missions without any recourse to pecuniary gain.
Long before Pastor Adeboye’s second visit to City of David, he said Pastor Kukoyi had noted that Apapa family had died and was only awaiting burial.
Fafowora said the second visit of Adeboye marked the death of the family going by his decision to rename the family.
His words, “Baba Adeboye now executed a naming ceremony for the dead Apapa Family by naming it the Favoured Family
’
He said, ‘The original Apapa family was more spiritual than physical.’
He added however that the old Apapa Family started bleeding the moment it became a cash cow for the RCCG
Adeboye’s verdict
On Pastor Adeboye’s tenancy claim he insisted, ‘the fact that the church took a loan to build the Trinity Tower does not make it a tenant.
‘Pastor Iluyomade built the Trinity Tower with the support of members of the church and with a loan which was being paid back as at the time he was the pastor.’ he said.
While noting that the business concerns at the Trinity Tower were such that could pay back the loan as agreed with the bank he said ‘’that the City of David was a mere tenant in the building has been proven wrong.
‘Whoever gave Baba Adeboye the wrong information that City of David was a tenant must be a mischief maker. It is a matter of calling a dog a bad name inorder to hang it.’
He posed a number of questions concerning the Trinity Tower that are begging for answers..
He argued that the church ought to have followed the payment plan which was to span 10 years rather than paying up the money now.
“There are several parishes of the church that would have benefitted from the humongous amount used to pay back the loan’ he said.
Fafowora reasoned further that the church is not about the building but the souls of people. ‘No building will be raptured. Only souls will be raptured. This is what we preach, this is what we teach and this is what we must practice.
‘The inappropriateness of paying billions of naira for a building that was already on the track of payment is mind boggling. The present state of the economy demands that churches should be more compassionate on the people they lead. The money would have been better utilised if they take the Corporate Christian Responsibility of City of David to another level of glory.’
Fafowora observed that the RCCG is unduly ambitious and running a race to become the biggest and lead other churches that have been in existence long before it.
in a later phone chat with Church Times, Pastor Fafowora who has been a long advocate of probity and fairness in the RCCG said there is a need for dialogue on the issue of the Trinity Tower and the need to give credit to whom it is due while at the same time trashing the grey areas.
