The imperative of Thanksgiving despite odds

By Gbemiga Olakunle

“I will praise the O LORD, with my whole heart, I will show forth all Thy marvellous works. “- Psalm 9:1, KJV.

Thanking GOD unconditionally in all situations we may find ourselves whether pleasant or not moves GOD to look at our direction and give us due attention.

It may be difficult to do so but if Thanksgiving has already formed part of our attitude, it will become our spontaneous reactions irrespective of our circumstances.

As individuals, families, Communities or a Nation, we shall pass through moments of ups and downs in journey of life. As humans, the natural thing is to murmur and complain against GOD especially if it is a valley experience. But instead of doing so we should still thank GOD.

An example that comes to mind was when Apostle Paul and Silas found themselves in prison for doing GOD’S work and not for commiting any crime, they turned their cell into a Praise and Worship Centre. And as a result the Holy Ghost came down and set them free from their bondage.

Presently, majority of Nigerians are passing through difficult moments due to some pockets of security challenges and some unfavourable

Government policies that must have made life unbearable for many of our citizens, but instead of dwelling in our pity parties and bemoaning our conditions, let us turn our attention to the only Potentate and the Omnipotent GOD Who dwells in Heaven among the Holy Angels and surrounded by the 24 Elders.

This we can do by continually giving thanks to Him as we await our deliverance as individuals and as a Nation.
Let us turn our valley of Baracha to Praise and Worship Centre. This is because the Scripture has admonished us in Psalm 30: 5 that weeping may endure for a night, but surely joy comes in the morning.

Our night moments shall soon expire because we are already at the threshold of a New Dawn as we await our individual and corporate deliverance in JESUS Name. PRAISE YE THE LORD! Shalom. –
