How Sunday Adelaja was banned from Russia by a Russian article

Sunday Adelaja

Sunday Adelaja was included in the list of persons whose entry into the territory of Russia is closed.
According to the Russian authorities, he poses a threat to the defense capability and security of this country.

By the decision of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow dated December 6, 2006, Pastor Sunday Adelaja was denied the satisfaction of the application to challenge the actions of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation at Sheremetyevo-1 Airport.

It should be recalled that on May 31, 2006, at 9:40 am, at the Moscow Sheremetyevo-1 airport, while passing through border control, Sunday Adelaja, who was on his way to participate in the Russian television program Let They Talk, was detained and then expelled from Russian Federation. When crossing the border, Adelaja had an open one-year entry visa to the Russian Federation.

He received no clarification from officials of the Russian Federation. After that, Pastor Sunday tried in court to prove the illegality of his refusal to enter the territory of Russia.

During the preliminary hearing, a representative of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, who appeared at the preliminary hearing, stated that his structure did not expel Sunday Adelaja from the Russian Federation and did not put a stamp on the termination of the entry visa of the Russian Federation in his foreign passport.

But during the court session itself, a representative of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, which participated as a third party in the case, explained that the FSB of the Russian Federation had made a decision in the form of a conclusion on the undesirability of the stay (residence) of Sunday Adelaja in the territory of the Russian Federation on the basis of subparagraph 1, paragraph 1 of Art. . 27 of the federal law of September 15, 1996

“On the procedure for leaving the Russian Federation and entering the Russian Federation.” The FSB of the Russian Federation decided that Sunday Adelaja was not allowed to enter the Russian Federation in order to ensure the defense capability and security of the state.

The pastor commented on this decision of the Russian court:

What prompted you to sue the FSB and what did you expect from this court?
“The Bible says that the righteous are as bold as a lion. I did nothing wrong and did not break any law, neither Russian nor even God’s! I am not a threat to Russia, but a blessing to this country! I bring light, and light, as you know, reveals the works of darkness!
“I bring freedom to people through the preaching of the Gospel. And that is why that part of the Russian authorities, which is afraid of the freedom of its people, forbade my arrival.
“And if earlier everyone was afraid of the FSB, then I wanted to reveal their secret affairs. They tried to keep me secretly out. But I wanted to shed some light on the case and challenge them to justify their actions. Let them give an example of something I did wrong. And since they couldn’t do it, thank God they accepted their defeat!
How do you feel about the decision of the court, and what are you planning to do next?
I have already achieved the main goal – I wanted the people of Russia, who are following what is happening, to see that they are gradually losing their freedom. Today Russia resembles a communist state. If people don’t start making a fuss, it won’t end.
The expulsion of foreigners, the killing of journalists and intelligence officers – this will go on increasing and may become similar to how it was under communism. Therefore, believers in Russia should pray for their country, and the elite and human rights organizations should ring all the bells.
