Sex for grade: Foursquare distances self from UNILAG lecturer
The Foursquare Gospel Church has dissociated itself from the University of Lagos lecturer, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu over the alleged sexual misconduct reported by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
The video of the report has since gone viral. Discussion on it on the social media is gathering steam. The video shows the lecturer in an amorous relationship with “a young girl of 17” who had come to seek admission to the university.
Dr. Igbeneghu who is a lecturer in the faculty of Arts of the university had told the lady in the video that there is a “cold room” in the staff club of UNILAG where lecturers fondle with the breasts and other sensitive parts of ladies.
He also tried to show the lady in the viral video how the act is conducted urging her to put off the light in the office, close the door and “come closer” if she wanted a kiss.
Though he did not have sex with the lady in the video, he kissed the lady apparently trying to show her a sample of what goes on in the “cold room” of the staff club of the University of Lagos.
As the lady came closer he wrapped around her and planted a kiss in her mouth for less than a minute. He later warned her never to reveal what had transpired while also insisting that the lady should always come to visit him in the office.
The video also revealed that the lecturer did not hide the fact that some ladies are given marks in exchange for sex and actually did not see anything wrong with it.
Apparently, BBC had sent an undercover reporter to unravel the story behind the sex for grade industry in campuses across West Africa using UNILAG and University of Ghana as case studies.
But Dr. Igheneghu who is in his 50s was most indicted in the ugly act by some female students in UNILAG who claimed that he is notorious for his molestation of female students.
The pathetic side of the video is that Dr. Igheneghu reveals his Christianity identity in the video claiming he is a pastor. He even had a short prayer with the lady which did not look normal. He allegedly led the lady to Christ only to ask later about her sex life and then the amorous “cold room” experience.
A lady in the video also alleged that Dr. Igbeneghu once tried to grope her while preparing for a Bible study session in the church. Though the lady said she never for once gave in to his sexual advances, she said had attempted suicide about four times because of the psychological trauma she went through as a result of the lecturer’s molestation.
However, in a terse release signed by the General Secretary of Foursquare Gospel Church, Rev Ikechukwu Ugbaja, the church distances itself from the immoral act saying as a holiness and Bible believing church it would not condone such “heinous and unscriptural act among our ministers”
The statement then informed that Dr. Igheneghu had been asked to step down from all ministerial engagements in the church promising to take decisive action as soon as an ongoing investigation is concluded on the matter.
Meanwhile Dr. Ighenegbe is reportedly devastated by the report. Some lecturers who spoke with our correspondent anonymously said when the news got to him this morning said he was simply dumbfounded and could not utter any word to anybody.
By the time he managed to talk he said he was set up by some people. But the video clearly shows Ighenegbe has a penchant for “cold room” practice with young ladies.
