Renowned televangelist, Apostle Joshua Selman took the centre stage last night, at the Abundant Life Gospel Church 40th Anniversary event, holding at the Peace Arena,Agege, Lagos,with a riveting sermon that set the vast auditorium agog
A thunderous applause heralded his arrival on the night as the audience expected the Apostle to deliver his usual blistering sermon. He didn’t disappoint.
After the talented choir had sang some glorious songs of praise,host ,Dr Mrs Jane Onaolapo urged Selman’s friend, Pastor Sola Osunmakinde of the popular House of David, church, Ikeja, who was credited for facilitating the Apostle’s attendance,to invite the erudite preacher to the pulpit.
The packed house listened as Selman went into systematic theology,line upon line,precept upon precept,a little quote here and there linking many scriptures to teach on Waiting on God.
His main text was Is 40:31.His exposition was as thrilling,as it was revelatory, bringing diverse perspectives to the famous scripture.
The Apostle posited that waiting on the Lord required four major things -change in orientation, studying the word, prayer and fasting and sacrificial giving.
He averred that God sometimes delays answer to prayer to allow Christians grow in the grace that enables them carry the blessing without losing it,due to immaturity.
Also, according to the Preacher, christians should wait for a rhema;a word from God, before they act, and not step ahead of instructions .
The man of God kept the audience at fever pitch and excitement with a string of revelation from what, ordinarily, is bland verses of scriptures,as he confirmed his Apostleship to this generation.
The meeting came to a close after a prophetic prayer,led by Selman,who obviously acquitted himself brilliantly on a night many Abundant Lifers won’t forget in a hurry,as they were richly blessed.
Bishop Segun Johnson,a London based minister friend of the Onaolapos,opened the week long anniversary on Monday, October 21,2024, with his usual masterly sermons.
The meeting continues tonight with another elite preacher,Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo on center stage from 6pm.
