A former Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Peter Popoola who passed on recently has been described as a man of uncommon passion.
His in-law, Dr. Olayinka Dada, Regional Pastor, and Assistant Continental Overseer in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, The Americas Continent made the remark during a chat with Church Times while talking about the late pastor.
He said, “We are really going to miss him. He was a man who loved children. He loved the people of God and was more at home working in the Lord’s vineyard. He was a committed family person who showed love to all those who came his way. We believe that he is resting with the Lord. We are certainly going to miss him,” .
Popoola was a telecoms engineer and also a graduate of the Redeemer’s Bible College. He was ordained as a pastor of the RCCG while working in Bauchi. He served the Lord in the mission until he joined World Revival Faith Ministry.
Popoola was born in Ghana on January 31, 1959. He had his primary education in Ghana before he relocated to Nigeria with his parents in 1969. He later went to school in Oshogbo and Lagos.
He trained at the famous School of Telecommunications in Oshodi, Lagos, and also travelled to Germany for further training with Siemen’s Corporation.
A University of Lagos graduate, Popoola worked in the defunct Nigeria Telecommunications rising to the peak of his career. He later embraced ministry work with his late wife, Mrs. Grace Popoola.
The late ex-RCCG pastor is described as a man with a heart for the kingdom. Since he encountered the Lord, he was said to have devoted his all to serving in the Lord’s vineyard. Though he passed through many trying moments during his lifetime, he remained resolute in faith and undaunted.
Pastor Popoola died on November 9. He will be buried at the Redemption City of God along Lagos Ibadan Express road on December 13 after a funeral service at the Messiah Sanctuary of Praise, Ring Road, now Josiah Akindayomi Road.
