Peter Obi addresses the press, says “we will reclaim our mandate”

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi has assured that the party will reclaim its mandate urging his supporters to remain peaceful.

He addressed the media on Thursday, March 2.

Obi said he has ample evidence that the election was fraudulent assuring that the Labour Party is ready and poised to pursue all legal processes to reclaim its mandate.

At the conference which was monitored on Channels Television by Church Times, Obi requested prayers and a minute’s silence for those who were injured and who lost their lives during and after the election.

He then said.”We will explore all legal processes to reclaim our mandate. We won the election, I will prove it to Nigerians. Please do not be dismayed.”He said

Obi further pleaded with his supporters to come out on March 11 to vote. “I appeal to people to come out and vote. We still have so many supporters. And they need to come out and vote for our people to secure seats in the state assembly. So go out and vote.  I will be part of it. I am totally committed to a better future for this country.”

He assured that “the labour of the Labour Party supporters will not be in vain. And you will not find us wanting. We will build a better Nigeria where all be happy.”

According to him, the election is a clear violation of electoral rules. “It was expected to be a transparent election but it will go down as one of the most controversial elections in Nigeria. The people of Nigeria have again been robbed. I will urge all Nigerians to conduct themselves in the most responsible manner. This is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of the journey to a new Nigeria. We are committed to a new Nigeria built on fairness, justice and equity.”

He said the journey to a new Nigeria starts with the process of getting to the position of leadership. “It is my belief that for you to answer “your excellency”, the process through which you arrive at the office must be “excellent”. We must do the right thing to generate the required confidence to lead

Obi said his followers should not expect that the structure that has created 133 million people living in multidimensional poverty would go away overnight. “No matter how long the night is there will be the day. I am ready to go through the darkness with you. All we need to show is commitment and resilience. I assure you I will be at the forefront. We will walk through this darkness until daybreak”.
