NEMI holds graduation ceremony for missionaries trained in cross-cultural engagement

The Nigeria Evangelical Missionary Institute (NEMI), the training and capacity building arm of the Nigeria Evangelical Missions Association (NEMA), has successfully trained four sets (2022-2025) in Cross-Cultural Ministry in a course known as Foundational Training Cross-Cultural Ministry

The graduation ceremony for the one year programme for the four sets took place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at NEMI campus in Mista Ali, Jos, Plateau State,

Graduates of the programme were imbued with fresh insights and a resolve to see that the banner of Jesus is hoisted in lands without the Good news so that Jesus will be enthroned in the hearts inhabitants of those lands.

The NEMI training

Against all odds, NEMI has consistently being involved in mobilizing, training, equipping and raising Kingdom advocates for the harvest among the unreached people groups of the world since 1986.

The theme for the graduation was, “All the Ends of the Earth will Fear Him” (Psalm 67:7).

This theme not only underscored the desire of the psalmist to see that God is acknowledged in all the earth, but much more, that God is deeply passionate and committed to reveal Himself to all the peoples of the earth, so that all will come into a reverential relationship with Him.

The graduation ceremony witnessed 54 graduands in attendance (aside 36 others who were unavoidably absent due to reasons beyond their control).

Guests at the event

Guests at the event were Rev. David Kanda (immediate past Chairman of NEMA), Pst. Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia (substantive Chairman of NEMA), Mr. Andrew Gwaivangmin (Executive Secretary, NEMA), and Prof. Namo Timothy (Chairman, Board of Governors, NEMI),

Also present were Elder Timothy A. Barri (the Mai Angwa of NEMI community), clergies, family members and friends of the graduands, friends and partners of NEMI, among others.

Exhortation

Rev. Kanda exhorted the graduands from Matthew 5:13-14, stressing that being light of the world they must first shine in their homes and in their immediate sphere of influence before they can impact the ends of the earth.

The graduands were further exhorted to watch their lives closely by maintaining constant fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

They were encouraged to maintain the discipline of prayer, study of God’s Word, and a life of perpetual consecration and hard work.

Response from graduating students

The graduands were full of appreciation to God and to NEMI for the training which included classroom teachings, skills acquisition, field exposure and other enriching learning experiences.

President of the students’ leadership team, Mr. Maiwa’azi Nomsu, on behalf of the graduating students said they will put to practice all that they have learnt at NEMI.

According to him, the one year training was a great learning opportunity. “We have indeed been impacted to affect our world and generation for Christ.” He said.

NEMI and training

NEMI expressed its determination to continue to provide holistic training that is both theoretical and practical. It believes the knowledge it imparts will transform the hearts of its students and equip them for action across different cultures.

The institute will commence training for new entrants for the programme on January 4, 2026.
