The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye who clocked 40 years as the General Overseer of the church on January 21, has given a clue to the initial mistake he made as the General Overseer.
He also said he never wanted to be the G.O.
Adeboye who bared his mind in a published interview on the RCCG Public Relations Facebook wall stated that his early mistakes bothered on his wrong perception of people who worked with him.
He recalled that he trusted those who worked with him too much forgetting that it’s only God that could and should be trusted.
‘I guess that was the initial mistake I made as General Overseer. I trusted people too much. I would give them assignments and believe they would do them.’
He said he later discovered that it’s only God that could be trusted.
Adeboye recalled also in the interview that when he was told he would be G.O by the late founder of the Church, Pastor Josiah Akindayomi, his initial reaction was that ‘ God forbid’
He said he never wanted to be G.O because he knew being the G.O would bring him to the limelight. ‘ I am a quiet person. I never wanted publicity. I like to be in the background. I knew becoming G.O would bring me to the limelight because my father in the Lord had told me that RCCG will be all over the world. And there was no way I could be G.O of such church’ and not be in the limelight.’
