These are trying times for all humanity, as the current pandemic has disrupted all sectors of life in every nation of the earth. Though the number of recovered and discharged patients is encouraging, however, the death toll is as well disheartening.
Children have become orphans, women have become widows, families have been displaced, businesses have folded up, millions of people have lost their source of livelihood. There is chaos, tension, depression, hunger and pain almost in every quarter regardless of social status. There are sounds of mourning among the rich, the poor are helplessly grounded, humanity is trapped and stranded.
Despite all laudable efforts by government agencies, the World Health Organisation and individuals to produce a cure, secure vaccines that can contain the virus from causing more damage to lives, the situation still persists. With social distancing and other hygiene measures in place, the virus keeps spreading. It is clear at this point that man is limited in control of the totality of life.
“The whole world has come to acknowledge the fact that mankind needs help. Our knowledge of science and technology is fantastic but It is not enough to go through all the issues of life. Science and technology cannot solve everything. Where then would humanity find help? There must be a “greater than man” to help man. When mankind cannot help herself, who or where does she turn to?
The answer is simple, when a product develops a fault, the best person to fix it is the manufacturer. It is therefore a time for us all to return to God, the creator of the earth and everything therein. As I prayerfully observe the current situation, I perceive that the Creator is calling His creatures back to Himself. Not by creating a pandemic but by arresting the situation to make His love manifest to all mankind. There is no wickedness in God.
Undoubtedly, the world has been racing excitedly in the wrong direction, indulging in all manner of immoral and corrupt value systems. We have been so caught up in the pursuit of the cares of this world that we have no true fellowship anymore and have lost consciousness of the small still voice calling and reaching out to us.
Amidst climate change, insecurity, corruption and other existing problems, we are now more troubled, pressed down emotionally, economically and our health is daily threatened. Our heart is so full of fear and pain. We eagerly look forward to the daily news update for current development with the hope of finding peace and safety once again.
I am expectant and optimistic about the cure and vaccines. It is taking too long and the involvement of corrupt powerful leaders and organisations all around the world to frustrate and take advantage of the situation for their selfish ambition is a huge concern. However, there is a more deadly pandemic we should be concerned about. It is the deadness of the soul. Speaking in this context, it is totally useless to take a Covid19 vaccine or cure while the soul is spiritually dead. A vaccine without Christ does not amount to eternal safety. Until you are saved, you are not safe.
Christ is the cure for every human being. The spirit is the real-life which controls the mortal body until it is vaccinated by believing in the finished work of Christ, the person is a walking corpse. The scripture says in John 3:16 ” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life ”
I do not mean to scare you, however, after you survive this pandemic, there will be another pandemic because this is not the first pandemic the world has ever experienced and it will not be the last. The peace the nations are looking for by different means can only be found in Christ. The scriptures call Him “The Prince of Peace”. Christ is the only immunization for every soul. He is the Peace that surpasses all human understanding even in the midst of any pandemic. All over the world, people are asking which way to go. Jesus is the way! Every other way is a journey in a circle that leads nowhere. In Him we have the assurance that our life is insured, we are saved, hence we are safe.
I would reiterate that this current pandemic is an opportunity to respond to the call of the saviour. For the believer in Christ, it is a call to fellowship and reawakening. A call to walk in dominion and victorious life already made available in the finished work of Christ. A call to intercession, a call to love more.
To the unbelievers, It is a call to reconcile with the Creator, a call to safety, a call to partake in the redemption and restoration made available in Christ for all humanity. A call to be transformed from darkness into His marvellous light. A call to rest and peace, a call out of the grave of death to life in abundance.
God is committed to saving mankind, hear what the scripture says;
Romans 10:13
“For whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” The creator is interested in all of humanity but there is a template to achieve this great desire…
Romans 10:14 says;
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
More that it is almost unlikely for those who have not heard the good news of Christ to just believe. Faith comes by hearing and the believers are the witness; the human instrumentality to convey this message of hope.
Just as the whole world is focused on finding a vaccine, working tirelessly, sparing nothing in search of a temporary cure for an incurable decaying body with no eternal value, so should the body of Christ( all believers in Christ) go to work, sparing nothing, searching for the lost. If only we can see the great opportunity for an unusual harvest at this time when everyone is readily available at home. The devil has always made a mistake. The Coronavirus outbreak is a blessing when we see how we can use the situation for the good of the kingdom. Is everything not working together for our good after all?
Online through all our social media platforms, within our family member, our neighbourhood, our small communities, we can engage in concise, deliberate, strategic, one on one and house to house aggressive witnessing. Reaching out to souls. While they are busy in the laboratory, we are busy in the fields. Every unbeliever is a mission field. If we can just stop complaining and stop seeing a lockdown but rather see how all the creatures are earnestly waiting for our manifestation; our appearance with the cure(Jesus)
Just as the coming of our Lord Jesus is not just near, it is rather here, the fields are not just ripe, they are made available unto us for harvest. I am trusting God that He will use this article to open the eyes of understanding of the churches (believers) all over the world and launch us into the harvest. Whatever the situation is in your region or country, this is the time to reach out to souls more. This is the time to show love to others more.
To the glory of God, we are currently working in the interiors and taking the gospel into the markets and streets and homes as we are permitted. We have carried out pulpit in our hands. In the region of Badagry, Mowo, Ikoga, the villages around Tafin, Okanran, Nabu and others, the Lord is currently using us to reach out to people in different ways.
Also in the riverine of Lagos, Ojo local government at Ibeshe and its environ, the Lord is giving us the grace to be a blessing.
We give clothes, food items, money and any palliative arrangement that can help keep those who cannot afford to cater for themselves especially at this time. Giving to the community or people we minister to is love accompanied by works.
Are you led to help give, to pray or to go with us to the fields? I often say that the great commission is not an individual calling, it is a collective responsibility for all believers in Christ. Now is the time!
We will not sit until He comes; We cover the earth!
