MFM Lady: How I won gold medal in wrestling @ commonwealth games after injured shoulder

A member of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, Odunayo Adekuoroye has recounted how she got a gold medal at the just concluded commonwealth games in the UK.

She was among the 12 female athletes that won gold for Team Nigeria in Birmingham, UK.

Adekuoroye defeated India’s Anshu Malik 7-3 (victory by points) in the final to successfully defend her title in the women’s 57kg freestyle wrestling event.

She met with Lagos State  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today August 16 following her exploits at the games

Earlier she had shared a testimony of how God healed her of a shoulder injury before the games.

She told her story during a church service monitored online by Church Times.

Adejuroye said she never thought she could make any good appearance at the games this year.

She said, “Last year I went to the Olympic games, I  sustained a shoulder injury. I thought I could never wrestle again. I was so sad I lost at the Olympics games.”

Olukoya got in touch

It was in the midst of her sorrow that the MFM Overseer, Pastor Olukoya got in touch with her. He encouraged her to stop crying because God had some great plans for her.

“It was the Minister of Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare who got in touch with the General Overseer of MFM, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.  I don’t know how he got the number of the MFM overseer. Baba sent me a message and said if I knew what God had for me I won’t be crying. Immediately my mood changed. I started feeling happy again.” she recalled.

She said further that Pastor Olukoya gave her an “anointed oil”.  She rubbed the oil on her shoulder. Shortly after rubbing the oil, she got her healing.

“On the shoulder, I was in Lagos for months trying to fix it.  They had checked everything. They said they could not find what was wrong with it. But I could not use it.

“The doctors and physiotherapist believed I won’t be able to use the hand again. But Pastor Olukoya gave me an anointing oil to rub on the shoulder.  Immediately I rubbed the oil on my shoulder, to the glory of God, I could use my hand again.” Adekuoroye said.

The 28-year-old defeated her Indian opponent, Anshu Malik 6-4 (VPO1) to secure Nigeria’s first gold medal in Wrestling, and defend the crown she won four years ago.

Sanwo-Olu took to his Twitter handle to celebrate Adekuroye on her visit to the Governor’s office.

He wrote, “Today, I received Miss Odunayo Adekuroye, a gold medalist in wrestling at the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.”
