RCCG commits N18.4billion to Charity, launches crowdfunding, donates dialysis centre to OOUTH

by Church Times

His Love Foundation, the charity arm of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has renewed its commitment to impacting Nigerians even as the church has spent about N18.4 billion on various charity programmes across the country in the last three years.

According to statistics made available to Church Times by the foundation, RCCG has impacted about 130,753,857 people in about 43,000 operating centres of the foundation in the country.

To increase its social interventions, the foundation on Sunday, July 25 launched The crowdfunding campaign.

RCCG Intercontinental Overseer on Christian Social Responsibility, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade told journalists during the launch that the crowdfunding was inspired by growing demands for social interventions across the country.

He said, “CSR is a matter of life and death for the church” adding that the church has committed itself to give succour in six specific areas of health, education, feeding, social enterprise, rehabilitation and prisons.

He said the crowdfunding campaign was designed to provide opportunities for individuals and corporate bodies to take part in helping the poor.

“There are a wide variety of urgent demands where government support will not be available at all or available in time to meet all the rapidly-changing needs on the ground, hence the need for donations from individuals, philanthropists and corporations to fill critical gaps and make a tremendous difference. We, therefore, need to bring our resources together, so that we can make a tremendous impact.”

With as little as N1000 a month or N12,000 per annum, an individual according to Iluyomade “will be able to do more for more people, impact more communities and transform more lives.”

He said individuals who donate to the charity will have the privilege of getting insurance cover. “The HLF has entered into partnerships with four Insurance companies in Nigeria to give 1year free Accident Insurance Policy to partners who make lump sum donations of N12,000 or more at once.”

The insurance partners are: Axa Mansard, Leadway Assurance Company Limited, Veritas Kapital and Cornerstone Insurance

The policy provides a worldwide cover on a 24-hour basis and pays prompt compensation in the event of injuries, disability or death caused solely by accident, external and visible events such as road accidents, Motorcycle and Tricycle (Keke NAPEP) risks are covered, however, power bikes or bikes used for racing are excluded.

The generated funds will be used to support His Love Foundation’s efforts in addressing a wide variety of in-the-moment, on-the-ground needs in critical areas of life.

Dialysis centre for OOUTH

To mark its third anniversary and the 69th Annual Convention of RCCG, His Love Foundation has concluded plans to donate a full-fledged Dialysis centre to be named Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Centre to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Ogun State.

The dialysis centre will have 3 units of Dialysis Machines, a Medical Water Reserve Osmosis Purification System and 30KVA generator.

This donation according to Pastor Iluyomade will be the 16th in the series of specialised medical interventions – Intensive Care Units (ICU)/ Dialysis Centres / Cancer Screening Centre / Primary Healthcare Centres – donated by His Love Foundation in the country.

The Kidney Dialysis Centre will be the second of such to be commissioned in Ogun State. The first was the Pastor Enoch and Pastor Folu Adeboye Intensive Care Center in Redeemed Health Center, Mowe, Ogun State.

Past interventions

A similar gesture had been carried out in Lagos State with the donation of an Intensive Care Unit attached to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) Lagos in 2017.

This was followed by the ICU in Jos Specialist Hospital, Plateau in 2018 and most recently in April 2021, the Akindayomi – Adeboye Intensive Care Center in Ondo State.

Another past intervention is the Healing Stripes Cancer Screening Centre at Surulere setup in 2010. This centre has 12 Dialysis machines and offers highly subsidized dialysis to patients with most of them done free of charge. It also donated a dialysis centre at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The foundation had also refurbished the Kirikiri Correctional Centre Referral Hospital, Kirikiri, Lagos into a modern health facility for the benefit of the inmates in 2019. It also rehabilitated the Resettlement Community Primary Healthcare Centre, Ajah, Lagos.

Apart from its impact in the health sector, the foundation has been heavily involved in feeding the poor, giving scholarships to indigent students and established centres for skills acquisition to equip the unemployed.

Iluyomade said the church has a commitment to “help the helpless, give hope to the hopeless, give food to the hungry and strength to the weak.”

The dialysis centre for the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital is expected to be commissioned by the Governor of Ogun State His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Thursday, August 6.
