Lagos PFN to inaugurate Pastor Yemi Davids as 11th chairman says, “it’s a new dawn”

The Lagos chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has concluded plans to inaugurate the Pastor of  Global Impact Church as its 11th chairman since the establishment of the chapter in 1986.

The body made this known in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Rev Tonye Oliver.

In the statement titled, “A new dawn in Lagos PFN”  the body disclosed that the event will take place on August 31 at the Covenant Place in Orile, Lagos at exactly 9 am.

The event according to the statement will attract about 5000 Pentecostals and Christians from other denominations including government functionaries and captains of industries.

Davids will be inaugurated along with the newly elected Vice Chairman of the chapter, Rev Janet Onaolapo, General Overseer of the Abundant Life Bible Church, and other executives of the body.

New Dawn

The PFN noted that the coming of Pastor Davids will mark the beginning of a new dawn in the fellowship.

The PFN has so far had 10 chairmen in quick succession. They include Rev Isaac Mpamaugo. He served between 1986 and 1990, Rev Wilson Badejo, 1990-1992, Pastor M. K Ogunbola 1992-1995, Pastor Paul Akapo 1995-1996 and Bishop Lawrence Osagie 1996-2000.

Bishop Lanre Obembe led the fellowship between 2002 and 2005, Pastor Wale Adefarasin from 2005-2008, Apostle Alex Bamgbola from 2008-2014, Bishop Sola Ore from 2014 to 2020 while Apostle Eyinnaya Okwuonu led the fellowship from 2020 to 2024.

The PFN said  Pastor Davids will bring his experience as a church planter and team leader to bear in his new role as the PFN leader in Lagos.

His credentials

Apart from being the founding pastor of Global Impact Churches with headquarters at The Goodland, Ogudu, Lagos, he is the President of Global Impact Institute (GII).

He studied Urban and Regional Planning at the Obafemi Awolowo University,. While in the university he founded the Living Word Campus Fellowship. He had a close relationship with some fathers of faith right from his school days at the university.  He is thus seen as a bridge builder between the old generation and the New Generation of pastors.

Davids gave his life to Christ at the Abeokuta Grammar School as a result of his interaction with the Scripture Union Movement.

The PFN statement described him as a “church apologist who believes in the unity of the church and has at several fora advocated that the church speak with one voice. His love for the church is seen in his often willingness to honour invitations that draw participants from several denominations. He is a known resource person at leadership training fora both within and outside Nigeria.

“He has a passion for leadership and hosts the Ministers and Leaders Forum (MLF) dedicated to leaders. He is a member of the Faculty of Daystar Leadership Academy Executive and also possesses an Advanced Diploma in Pastoral and Transformational Leadership, RILA.”

“Yemi Davids also holds a certificate from the Word of Faith Bible Institute [WOFBI] by Living Faith Church, Daystar Leadership Academy (DLA), Nigeria, Institute of Leadership & Management, United Kingdom, to mention but a few.

He is author of several books including the BEGreat Daily Devotional, 7 Laws of Favour, In Pursuit of Academic Excellence, Etc. He is married to Abimbola and has four wonderful daughters.”
