Lagos PFN holds first ever Christmas carol …We are celebrating the reason for the season-Bishop Ore

The Lagos Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may have achieved a rare feet of bringing the church together as one; as it held its 2016 Christmas Carol, an initiative which was the first of its kind in the history of the organization.

The 2016 Carol which held at the Jesus Evangelical Assembly, Off Allen, on Friday December 9, no doubt heralded a new dawn in the body of Christ in Lagos. The PFN Director of Music,  Pastor Chigozie Anyanwu was full of praise to God for making the event a reality.

Anyanwu who gave the opening remark at the event noted that the about 30-member choir had to sacrifice their time to ensure that the programme was a reality. “What you see today is the result of commitment on the part of the choir drawn from all over Lagos. We have been practicing for the past six weeks. They come all over from Lagos to Obalende to rehearse. This is certainly the Lords doing. And it is an indication that God is doing something new in our midst as a body.” he said

He expressed appreciation to the host pastor, Pastor Esosa Ize- Iyamu whom he described as a man with a large heart. “Today we are benefitting from his magnanimity and generosity. He made this place available to us without hesitation. We are indeed grateful to him. We are also grateful to all the chairmen of all the provinces in Lagos. Their contributions have also made the carol a reality.”

The carol session began with a spirit filled rendition of the song, Gbo ohun. The voice of the choir ran through the expansive auditorium with an incisive impact.”

The Chairman of the body, Bishop Sola Ore in a short exhortation at the event said the Christmas season is not a time to wine and dine but a time to celebrate the Lordship of Jesus.

Bishop Ore described the coming of Jesus as an end to deprivation and want. “Jesus’ coming is the beginning of true life. Jesus brought us salvation and brought an end to the struggle of man. His birth marked the end of an era of death and struggle.  So Christians celebrate Christ and not the season. For believers, Christmas time is not a time to drink and eat but a time to reflect on the birth of a savior who came to redeem mankind from sin and ignominy.”

The carol service was interspersed with Bible reading sessions by some members of the executive of the PFN. Participants expressed great joy noting that the celebration would go a long way to unite the body of Christ.
