The Chairman of the Lagos chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Pastor Yemi Davids has called on Christians to intensify their prayers for churches across the country especially churches in Northern Nigeria while also lamenting the slaughtering of pastors by people he tagged, ‘agents of darkness.’
Davids made the call in a recent message shared online monitored by Church Times. It is not certain if the message is a recent one.
it will be recalled that U.S. Senators (like Ted Cruz) and Representatives (like Chris Smith), along with expert witnesses and human rights groups like Genocide Watch and the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) have been raising dust over what they term “Silent Christian Genocide” in Nigeria
The core of the recent activity is the continuous effort by U.S. lawmakers and religious freedom advocates to compel the State Department to formally declare Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC).
They contend that a “silent genocide” or “religious cleansing” is being carried out, primarily against Christian communities in the Middle Belt and northern states.
PFN chair concern
Davids who organised support for victims of terrorists attack in Benue State a few months ago said it is worrisome that many churches are too self-centered.
He said, ‘you should not be praying for your church alone. Pray for churches across Nigeria. The church is being attacked. We should pray against the attack of the enemy. Instead of the fall down and die prayer for perceived household enemies, you should be praying against the attack on the church.’
He observed that many pastors in the north are being killed. Making reference to a video he watched recently he said, ‘I watched a video from a part of the north. I don’t want to mention the community where the Islamists invaded and killed people.
“And the man was crying and lamenting. He is a reverend. He said, my colleague, pastor was slaughtered last week and now they have come again and killed several people and yet they are calling the military, they did not answer. And after the killing the military will now come up with cars. What is going on.’
While noting that the man in the video was a fellow reverend like him, Davids said, ‘Its just that I am in Lagos But he needs our prayers.’
He then prayed, ”May the Lord strengthen our brothers in the North. intervene Lord. If you’re going to pray that anything should fall down and die, that is what you should be praying not all these praying your villagers to die.’
Agenda against the body Christ
He said further that there is an agenda against the body of Christ which according to him is coming from the North. He assured however that “they would proceed no further. The fire of the holy spirit will push them back in the name of Jesus’
Still referring to the video he watched, he said, ‘When I watched that video of the reverend crying, he was holding the dead body of a lady that was just killed and was surrounded by other women weeping. If you don’t pray about these things, God forbid. Evil spreads.
“When the enemy arrested James through Herod and killed him, scriptures say he proceeded further to arrest Peter. It was the prayers of the saints that rescued Peter and that prayer killed that king that season. The thing stopped.’
