The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar has said he would be glad to host the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye for a prayer meeting in Sokoto.
He gave the assurance during a courtesy call to the palace by Pastor Ola Adejubee of the RCCG.
Adejubee is the pastor in Charge of Region 18 of the RCCG comprising of Sokoto, Zamfara and kebbi State. He was recently appointed to be in charge of the region thus necessitating a courtesy visit to the Sultan; alongside some provincial pastors of the Church.
The main purpose of the visit was to fashion out ways of consolidating the existing cordial relationship between RCCG in the Region and the Sultanate.
Muslims and Christians have been cohabiting in the northwest peaceful. It is believed that the maturity of the sultanate and the tolerance of Muslims may be responsible for the relative peace being enjoyed within the region.
The visit turned out to be a success as the RCCG delegation led by the Pastor in Charge of Region and his wife including the pastors in charge of the provinces of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara had a great time interacting with the sultan and his people.
The Highlights of the visit was exchange of gifts comprising a big Bible and a book: 21 Leadership Secrets of Pastor E A Adeboye.
The Sultan gave the Region copies of his past speeches and re-iterated his commitment to host Pastor Adeboye in Sokoto for a prayer programme.
The visit according to observers is a step in the right direction and would further strengthen the harmonious relationship between Muslims and Christians in the states.
