The Continental Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Europe, Pastor Leke Sanusi has revealed how God stepped into his marriage and gave him a miracle child after almost a decade of waiting.
He narrated the story while preaching at the thanksgiving ceremony for the just concluded Holy Ghost Congress of the church on Sunday, December 10.
Sanusi who preached on the topic, About this time next year, said it was a year after Pastor Adeboye made a prophetic declaration on him and his wife that his wife put to bed.
Medical science failed
Giving a background to what led him to Pastor Adeboye, he said, “My wife and I left Nigeria in August 1996. 27 years ago. We had been married for 6 years at that time. We had tried all kinds of traditional treatment, medical, and occultic treatments looking for a child which all failed. We were then referred to a medical hospital in London.”
The Medical report from Nigeria according to him reads, “The more we treated this couple for their infertility problem the worse they became; so we are referring them to your highly esteemed hospital for your expert management”
While recalling the anxiety and depression that accompanied the report to England, Sanusi said “When we got to England, we began another round of medical consultations. In England, we were consulting one of the best gynecologists in the land. He treated my wife for one and a half years, and everything failed. One day he called my wife and I into his office and said we are closing your file because all efforts to help you failed. If there is a new medical invention or breakthrough we will let you know”
Meeting with Pastor Adeboye
For Sanusi, hope was lost. But on the 16th of August 1998 much after the closure of the couple’s medical file, they met the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. “ We met Daddy G.O. and he prayed for us. He said about this time next year we will embrace our miracle. He laid hands on us and we left.”
As God would have it, Sanusi said his wife conceived shortly after the prayers of Pastor Adeboye and gave birth just about 12 months after the declaration.
He said, “Man closed our files but the one who made the heavens and earth opened our medical files through his son, our beloved daddy, and the following year. On May 22, 1999, less than 12 months after the prophecy our first son was given birth.”
They both went back to the hospital and to the doctor who closed their files. He said the doctor expressed shock that his wife could have a child.
Sanusi said, “The doctors said to both of us, who treated this woman that she conceived. We replied at the same time, Dr. Jesus treated us. Our doctor, a professor of Gynaecologist believed and surrendered his life to Jesus.”
Value of thanksgiving
Earlier in his message, Sanusi had noted how God moved miraculously throughout the congress recalling how people came to share testimonies.
While referring to the story of the Shunammite woman and her encounter with Elisha, Sanusi said. “By this time next year, we will be settled. About this time next year, there will be many more twins and triplets. Do you believe it? Are you not like the Shunammite woman who did not believe? If your yes is a sincere response, the right thing to do is to act out your belief through thanksgiving”
According to him, “The best way to convince God that you believe you have received is to thank him before you experience the manifestation. In John 6v11, Jesus first gave thanks before feeding the multitudes.”
The RCCG pastor said further that it is pertinent to thank God because “God who says you are already re-positioned cannot lie. God has commanded you not just to believe in him but to believe his prophet according to Isaiah 55v11. Another reason to believe is because we have seen the word of God come to pass.”
