How I was duped over paramilitary job-  Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has recalled how he was duped by a man who promised to make him the commandant of a paramilitary group.

Adeboye made the disclosure in the Open Heaven Devotional of Monday, September 16, 2024.

He recounted how the man got to him through his secretary over an extended period.

After granting the man an audience, the scammer presented an offer to him that he wanted him to head a paramilitary group that had reportedly evolved from a Boy Scouts-like organization.

“The man explained that he was looking for someone to lead the group spiritually,” pastor Adeboye wrote adding, “I have always had a deep love for the military, which clouded my better judgment.”

He said because he had always loved to be in the military, he could not think through the scam. He did not also bother to make the offer a subject of prayer.

Adeboye said he agreed to take the offer. The man, however, requested funding for the group, which he willingly provided, believing the offer was legitimate.

It wasn’t until later that he uncovered the truth that the offer was a scam. “I was so eager to fulfill a personal desire that I didn’t wait for God’s direction,” he admitted in the devotional.

“In the end, I only lost money, but for someone else, it could have been much worse.” He added

He then urged readers of the devotional to be patient and wait for God’s timing in all matters.

“God had already proposed that Redemption City have its corps of chaplains and a local Police post. He knew the desire of my heart, and He had planned for it to be fulfilled in His own time”, He added.

His experience stands as a reminder of the potential risks when individuals act hastily instead of consulting God first.

He used the experience to warn others about the importance of discernment and patience, encouraging them to avoid shortcuts that could lead to more serious consequences.
