As the global prayer movement Revive Us Again approaches one of its annual event on December 21st, with the theme “A global call for Intercession for Africa”, the situation in Nigeria is dire.
Reports of kidnappings, gruesome killings, bloodshed of innocent lives and ransome demands by Fulani militants, Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, other criminal elements have been flooding in, with many schools closed in northern Nigeria and Christians in hiding.
I received a distressing message on WhatsApp, detailing the escalation of violence in South West Nigeria, including Ogun, Lagos, Kwara, and Kogi states.
A 5-year-old child was kidnapped on his way to school, and another girl was killed after her parents paid the ransom. Fulani militants raided a university hostel in Edo state, kidnapping students. Hundreds of Christians and school students are missing, held in kidnappers’, ritualists’, and Jihardists’ camps.
In the midst of this chaos, God spoke to me through Jeremiah 2:7-11, emphasizing Nigeria’s rebellion and idolatry. The Lord is calling the nation and the Church to repentance, acknowledging their sins and turning back to Him.
As I prayed and interceded for hours, God gave me Ezekiel 34:11-16, Isaiah 10:5-11, Micah 4:6, and Luke 5:32 as His response. Here’s what God is saying:
- Ezekiel 34:11-16: God promises to seek out His sheep, rescue them from oppression, and shepherd them with justice.
- Isaiah 10:5-11: God condemns Assyria (representing oppressors) for their pride and violence, promising to punish those who shed innocent blood.
- Micah 4:6: God promises to gather the remnant, bring them back, and make them strong, turning them into a testimony of His power and love.
- Mathew 3:2: John’s call to the people to turn away from sin and turn to God.
- Luke 5:32: Jesus calls sinners to repentance, offering forgiveness and transformation.
God’s message to Nigeria and the Church is clear: repent, turn back to Him, and experience His mercy, forgiveness, and restoration. He promises to:
- Seek and rescue the oppressed
- Judge and punish injustice
- Gather and strengthen the remnant
- Offer forgiveness and transformation Further possible Response from God :
“My child, I hear your prayer and see the cries of My people. I am not surprised by Nigeria’s challenges, for I have been speaking to the nation through My Word and prophets. I will not abandon My people, but I will awaken them to their need for Me.
“I will judge the principalities and other spiritual forces of darkness, and I will bring My people out of darkness into My marvelous light. I will restore dignity and purpose to the nation, and My people will be a testimony of My love, justice, and righteousness.
“Tell My people to seek Me with all their heart, to repent of their sins, and to turn to Me. I will revive the Church, and I will use it to bring hope, healing, and transformation to the nation.
“I will raise up leaders who will serve Me with integrity, justice, and compassion. They will prioritize the welfare of the people, and they will be guided by My Word.
“Tell My people to stand firm in faith, to pray fervently, and to trust in My sovereignty. I will bring Nigeria out of this darkness, and it will be a nation that honors Me.
“My people, I am with you, and I will never leave you. Fear not, for I am your God, and I will bring you through this trial. You are My beloved, and I will restore you to My original plan for you.”
Here’s an addition to the message:
God’s Promise of Restoration and Redemption
If Nigeria and the Church genuinely repent, fast, and pray on December 21st, God promises:
- God will restore Nigeria’s dignity and purpose, making it a beacon of hope and light in Africa (Isaiah 60:1-3)
- God will protect Nigerians from harm, violence, and terrorism, bringing peace and stability to the nation (Psalm 91:1-16)
- God will pour out His Spirit, bringing revival and awakening to the Church, and transforming Nigerian society (Joel 2:28-32)
- God will bring justice and fairness to Nigeria, holding accountable those responsible for corruption, injustice, and bloodshed (Psalm 82:1-8)
- God will bless Nigeria’s economy, bringing prosperity and opportunities for all, as the nation turns to Him (Deuteronomy 28:1-14)
As God said in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Earnest Prayer for Mercy and Forgiveness
“Oh God, I come to You with a humble heart, acknowledging my own sinfulness and the sinfulness of our nation. I repent of my own sins, and I ask for Your mercy and forgiveness. I recognize that Your wrath and judgment are just, and I deserve to face the consequences of my actions.
“But, oh God, I plead with You, have mercy on me, and on Nigeria, our leaders, and Your Church. Forgive us for our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We have sinned against You, and we have brought judgment upon ourselves.
“Forgive our national sins, our idolatry, our corruption, and our injustice. Forgive our leaders for their wickedness, and forgive the Church for its complacency and lukewarmness. Forgive us for our ignorance and our stubbornness, and forgive us for our rebellion against Your Word.
“Oh God, we have been sleeping, and we have been sin- mesmerized. We have been blinded by our own pride and self-interest, and we have failed to see the destruction that we have brought upon ourselves. Forgive us, and awaken us from our slumber.
“We ask for Your deliverance from the consequences of our sins. We ask for Your protection from the spiritual forces of darkness that seek to destroy us. We ask for Your guidance and wisdom for our leaders, and for the Church to be a beacon of hope and light in the darkness.
“Oh God, restore us, and revive us. Bring us back to Yourself, and let us experience Your love, Your mercy, and Your forgiveness. Let Your Spirit be poured out upon us, and let us be transformed by Your power.
“We ask for Your mercy, Your forgiveness, and Your restoration, not because we deserve it, but because You are a God of love, mercy, and compassion. Hear our prayer, oh God, and answer us, for Your name’s sake. Amen.”
Prayer Points:
- Pray for forgiveness for specific sins, such as corruption, idolatry, and injustice.
- Pray for mercy and protection for Nigeria and its citizens, both at home and in the diaspora.
- Pray for the Church to be awakened and revived, and for leaders to be guided by Your Word.
- Pray for deliverance from the consequences of sin, and for restoration and revival.
- Pray for God’s mercy and forgiveness, not because we deserve it, but because of His love and compassion.
Last Reminder: A CALL FOR GLOBAL INTERCESSION FOR AFRICA.Link:https://churchtimesnigeria.net/a-call-for-global-intercession-for-africa.
Will you join the call to repentance, fasting, and prayer on December 21st, and experience God’s mercy, forgiveness, and restoration?
Let us unite with God’s intercessors, underground churches, preachers, and believers across Nigeria, Africa, America, Europe, and around the world.
We especially invite General Overseers, Founders of churches, ministries, mission agencies, and Christian organisations to mobilize their congregations for united prayer, whether in groups of two, three, or more on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
God says in Joel 2:12–13: “Turn ye even to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.
And rend your heart, and not your garments. Return unto the Lord your God; for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness.”
Jesus says,”There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish”. Luke:1-5
It’s time for African redemption.
Let’s unite for Nigeria’s redemption, an end to violence, and God’s glory!
