Evangelist writes CAN, warns against anti-democratic forces

An evangelist, Adesegun Osibanjo has written an open letter to the Christian Association of Nigeria asking the body to distance itself from some church leaders heating the polity.

This is the second in the series of letters written to CAN by Osibanjo on political issues. In his first letter, he had admonished CAN to congratulate the declared winner of the 2023 presidential election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Osibanjo in the second letter dated April 1 2023 however noted that the events that truncated June 12, 1993, elections are gradually playing out.

He warned that if care is not taken there may be a repeat of what happened 30 years ago in Nigeria.

In the letter, Osibanjo an engineer by profession also said he had entertained fears about the Tinubu/Shetima ticket when it was christened renewed hope.

He wrote, “When Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima Kickstarted their Presidential campaign with the Mantra: Renewed Hope 2023, my Spirit man spoke immediately saying, why do these Presidential gladiators want History to repeat itself with the Mantra: Hope 1993 of Basorun M.K.O Abiola and Babagana Kingibe with the symbolism of numbers 3 and 30 years playing out prominently.

“The symbolism of 3 is that of inspiration, creativity, and self-expression. Thirty is made up of numbers 3 and 0. Number 0 usually resonates with infinity and wholeness, and can also be related to something mysterious.

“The combination which is 30 helps to focus on our spiritual lives which also assists us to express and use our natural abilities. My Spirit man again ministered saying that the tendency of history repeating itself will manifest in the run-up and post-Election actions. These tendencies are already manifesting at alarming and scary levels.”

He observed that many notable Church leaders are “at the forefront of clamouring for election cancellation, putting up all manners of inciting actions and inactions to their followers, and embarrassingly still prophesying that the Presidential Swearing in ceremony will neither hold nor see the Light of the day.”

Some Faithfuls according to him “even went to the extreme as far as joining in the demonstration right in front of the Defence Headquarters”

While noting that all these tendencies amount to playing God in the affairs of Nigeria he urged CAN to prevail on these Christian leaders to stop heating the polity

He said there were clear indications that God wanted Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to be president going by the several hurdles he had to cross before the polls
