A non-denominational Christian group, Christian Conscience, has admonished all political and religious leaders in the country to emulate Jesus’ leadership style of humility and servant leadership.
The group also praised Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his efforts in securing lives and property in the state.
The group made its position known in a statement made available to Church Times and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Tunji Oguntuase
Describing Jesus as an embodiment of love and peace, the group said, ‘ until our political and religious leaders emulate Jesus’ virtue of patience and servant leadership, they will continue to depend on their own strength and will find it difficult to make headway.’
“Every human being, leader or follower should inculcate the fear of God in them. Where there is fear of God, there is love just as Jesus Christ is the symbol of love”, the group said.
The release, which was jointly signed by the group Acting National Chairman, Dr.( Mrs) Yetunde Akinluyi and the National Secretary, Rev. Dr. Kolawole Verralls states further, “When we emulate Christ, there will be peace and love rather than the politically induced senseless killing and general insecurity in the land.
The group condemned the incessant killings of Nigerians by bandits and herders, urging the federal government to put all machineries in place to identify the sponsors of these hoodlums and bring them to justice
On the regional agitatition for breakup of the Nigerian nation, the group advised the agitators to engage in peaceful dialogue to address some of the issues at stake.
The group then commended the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the security and stability enjoyed so far in the state.
It also commended the governor’s people-oriented programmes and activities, but urged him to sustain the peaceful co-existence of Lagosians.
The group further urged the people of Lagos State to constantly pray for the government so as to continue to put smiles on their faces while urging Nigerians to always pray for our leaders.
