Charity Foundation begins operation in Ota, to support 500 residents monthly

Narayan Charity Foundation has begun operation in Ota Ogun State. The foundation kicked off its operation with an impressive ceremony at the Mupin community in Ota on Saturday, October 12,

The event had in attendance community leaders, trustees, and some residents of Ota.

The foundation aims to give over 500 residents of the community monthly support focusing on the feeding, healthcare, and educational needs of the people.

Reaching the poor

One of the trustees, Pastor Festus Atamu who delivered a brief speech on the importance of giving and caring for others said the foundation is committed to bringing people out of poverty.

He said he was inspired to be part of the effort because the goal is to help the poor.

Chairman of the foundation, Mr. Sanjay Jha an Indian philanthropist known for his contributions to the community in his 16 years in Nigeria, and other trustees, including Ayo Adebusoye, Lanre Ajagbe, Festus Atamu, and Pradeep were at the event

Giving back

In his speech, Bale of the Mupin community expressed gratitude for the opportunity to witness the foundation’s launch, praised the foundation’s efforts, and encouraged others to emulate the chairman’s generosity. He said, “We should learn to give back to the community like the well-meaning Mr Sanjay is doing, even in this economy, and the Lord will reward him for his actions.”

Mr Sanjay Jha promised that the foundation would continue to support the community, especially in the health and education sectors.

He highlighted the foundation’s commitment to providing food for more than 500 people in the community each month.

Inspiration

When asked about the inspiration behind the foundation, Mr Jha said his travels around the world made him aware of people in need, motivating him to make a difference.  

“I have worked in Sango Ota, Lekki, Maryland, back to Sango Ota.  I saw that local people need support. I had it in mind to help in the little way I can,” he said, adding that he has the support of the trustees and his Narayan Trading Company.”

He said beneficiaries of the monthly gesture will be picked among residents of the community while special attention will be paid to their basic needs. Beneficiaries according to him will also vary from time to time depending on the needs of the people and how pressing the needs are.

Support

After the speeches, the foundation distributed 150 packages to schoolchildren, containing food, pencils, writing books, geometry boxes, soft drinks, and water bottles. During a roadshow on the streets of Mupin, Ota, they distributed approximately 500 food packs and over 300 snacks, including jollof rice, tofu, chicken, and mineral.

The Narayan Charity Foundation’s launch marked the beginning of a mission to support the Ota community, with a particular focus on education and healthcare and providing regular meals to those in need.

The chairman and trustees expressed their dedication to continuing these efforts, aiming to positively impact the lives of many.

The event featured a short segment where the DJ played music for the community’s children. An Indian dance performance also added an entertaining touch to the event.
