Ban on external ministers is total, no room for special approvals-RCCG

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has reinstated its position on the ban on preachers from outside the church from ministering in any of its parishes across the globe.

The church had in a memo dated January 5 stated that no preacher(s) outside of the RCCG would be allowed to minister in the church. It  was reinstating its December 14 2023 directive

The memo which was signed by Pastor Oladele Balogun stated that “Anyone who wishes to invite any guest minister, speaker or preacher to their  parish must ensure that the individual is a recognised member of RCCG.”

Any minister(s) who “violates the directive according to the memo, “will face severe disciplinary measures and may be relieved of their ministerial duties in the mission”

The spokesman of RCCG, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi in a terse note made available to Church Times on Wednesday, January 10 explained that the purpose of the directive from the RCCG was to fully forbid the invitation of guest ministers from outside the church to any of the parishes with immediate effect.

He debunked the notion that “the ban is not total and that those who might have to invite such external ministers would have to obtain clearance and approval”

Don’t request for approval

He then stressed, “The ban is total and the memo gives no room for any approval from anywhere whatsoever”

The ban might have also been extended to gospel artists and any form of minister under any guise.

It is not clear the particular programme that made the church arrive at banning external ministers from its altars.

However, sources informed that there have been cases of abuse and importation of straight beliefs into the church system by external ministers.

The church sometimes has been taken aback by the excesses of some guest ministers in some of its parishes.

It is however not clear if some of the regular faces at the Redemption Camp programmes like Pastor Joe Olaiya and Pastor Charles Achonwa would be affected by the directive.
