Anointing not for sale
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has warned workers of the church and indeed preachers of the gospel to refrain from the temptation of commercializing the anointing of God on their lives.
He gave the warning April 17, the first day of the two-day annual ministers cum workers meeting of the church which held online.
Adeboye who preached on the anointing quoting from the book of Mark chapter 16v15-20 also enumerated steps to receiving the anointing from the Lord.
He pointing out however that “By the time you receive the anointing as I am sure you will receive it, do not commercialise it. The anointing of the Lord is not for sale.”
He made allusion to Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8v20 who made moves to buy the anointing from Peter but was reprimanded adding, “The anointing of God is not for making money.”
Earlier he had given steps to receiving God’s anointing.
The first step according to him is for believers to be thirsty for the anointing.
He stated that those who want to be empowered by the Lord must greatly desire it.
Such desire according to him must also lead them to pray and spend quality time praying.
He counseled that a believer must at least spend one hour daily praying in the Holy Spirit so they could be filled with God’s empowerment noting that “the success recorded in the RCCG today is a consequence of intense praying.”
The RCCG general overseer recalled how he traveled to South Korea to attend the conference organised by Dr. Paul Yongi Cho who was then the pastor of the largest church in the world and how he was inspired to spend a lot of time praying.
He said he was lost in prayer in one of the prayer rooms that people in the bus that was designated to pick him from the prayer spot at the conference were agitated and wondering where he was.
While noting that sin will greatly hinder the believer from being anointed, he said, those who seek the anointing must ask for it in faith and must not doubt. “Anybody who doubts cannot receive anything from the Lord” he said.
He also counseled that the gift of the Lord must not be left redundant. “You must use the gift the Lord gave you. Remember the parable of the talents. The gift is not for decoration.” He said.
