House of Bishops of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has elected bishops to take charge of the newly created dioceses of the church and the vacant See of the Diocese of Irele/Ese-Odo
One of the Bishops is Ven Ajayi Adewole who is currently the Dean of the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church Cathedral in the Lagos West Diocese of the Church. He will be Bishop of the newly created Lagos South West Diocese.
Venerable Samuel Ogunmiluyi was elected to man the vacant See of the Diocese of Irele/Ese-Odo
A statement by the Church’s Communication Officer, Korede Akintunde, informed that the election was done on Thursday September 18 at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel, Okesha, Ado-Ekiti, in Ekiti Diocese where the Episcopal Synod took place
The statement reads, “At the end of this Episcopal Synod, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev. Dr. Henry Ndukuba announced the elections of fifteen clergymen to fill the current vacant See of Irele/Ese-Odo and fourteen of the newly created Sees.

- Diocese of Irele/Ese-Odo – Venerable Samuel Ogunmiluyi
- Diocese of Ekiti South – Venerable Francis Bankole
- Diocese of Kalabari – Venerable Boma Briggs
- Diocese of Lagos South West – Venerable Dr. Adewole Ajayi
- Diocese of Omoku – Venerable Richard N. Okpara
Missionary dioceses
- Diocese of Ozoro – Venerable Dr. Benjamin Idume
Missionary Dioceses - Missionary Diocese of Idanre – Venerable Bode Otenaike
- Missionary Diocese of Ikom – Venerable David Michson

Recall that the standing committee approved the creation of 5 full-fledged dioceses and 10 missionary dioceses at the just concluded meeting.
The Primate noted that the election of the bishop of the Missionary Diocese of Eket is yet to be done due to the sudden demise of the Bishop of Uyo Diocese this week, where the missionary diocese is being carved out.
He called on all faithful to pray and support these newly created dioceses and elected servants of God and their families as they go into their new places of assignment at a time like this, after all the due processes, training and consecration are concluded.
Ndukuba also urged the newly elected fathers in God to continually seek God’s face for direction, and for the power of God in the new roles God has given to them.
The Primate added that the inauguration of new dioceses and enthronement of the Bishops-elect will be announced in the days ahead. Their consecration will however hold on the 9th of November, 2025 in Abuja.
