Anglican Bishop, wife, driver released from kidnappers” den, taken to the hospital

The Anglican Bishop of Jebba Diocese, The Rt Rev Adeyinka Aderogba, his wife, and driver have been released from the den of kidnappers..

A statement on the Advent Cable Network Nigeria indicated that they were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention after their release

The Bishop of Omu Aran Diocese, Rt. Rev. Festus Sobanke, broke the news of the release

Bishop Aderogba, the diocesan bishop of Jebba Diocese, of the church was kidnapped on Oyo-Ogbomoso road on the evening of June 12  2022

He was said to be on his way to Jebba for an episcopal assignment in Yewa Diocese.

The kidnappers demanded a sum of 50 Million Naira for them to be released.

As of today, it is not certain if the church paid the ransom.

The Bishop of Oyo Diocese, The Rt. Rev Williams Aladekugbe told Church Times earlier in the day that the church was still negotiating the release of the Bishop.

Aladekugbe told our correspondent that he spoke with the wife of Bishop Aderogba on the phone while still in the den of kidnappers.

He said the church is making effort to ensure their release while calling for more prayers.

Since the abduction of the trio, there was an online prayer between 8 and 9 am on Monday and today June 14 for the release of the Bishop and the rest.
