General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained why he has refused to stop those who pray in the name of the God of Adeboye from doing so
He gave the explanation at the special programme of the church on Wednesday, February 7 which took place at the Redemption Camp along Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
The issue of praying in the name of the God of a man of God has been a source of theological debate for many years. Some theologians believe it is a form of subtle idolatry. Some believe it is calling undue attention to the pastor.
But Pastor Adeboye explained that it would be wrong to stop those people praying in the name of the God he serves.
He said, “Some people are saying I should stop those praying in the name of the God of Adeboye. I don’t know why they are angry that they are praying in the name of my God. They are not praying in my name. It is the name of my God. Why should I stop them?” He said.
Adeboye said further, “My God is the El-Shaddai, he is the king of Kings. He is the Lord of Lords. He is the creator of the whole universe”
In the course of the message, he told the congregation that God was going to bring them to a place of influence in no time. He prayed that before they leave this world, their names will be mentioned in strategic places while also urging them to make decrees about their future.

He recalled the instance of a lady who went to join Fela Shrine many years ago.
The RCCG Overseer said, “The mother of the woman came to camp and we prayed concerning the situation. Suddenly people began to fight the daughter of the woman in the Fela shrine and because of that she returned home.”
He then urged the congregation to pray fervently that none of their relatives would go to hell.
