Adeboye: Testimony of man who borrowed from the bank to sponsor RCCG convention
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has shared the testimony of how a man borrowed money to sponsor RCCG convention in a particular year and later became chairman of the bank he borrowed from.
He gave the testimony in his message today July 26, titled, the shortest way to the greatest height, the part 7 in the series, “From lockdown to leaping up”
The message was monitored on Dove Media by Church Times.
The RCCG overseer was ostensibly urging his listeners to make God a priority if they are going to get a quantum leap in life.
On the man who became chairman of the bank he borrowed money from, Adeboye said, ‘he came to me and said he wanted to sponsor the convention. He wanted to know how much it would cost. I told him I could not give a figure of that particular year but I could give him the figure of the previous year. So I gave him the figure. I thought he would shrink back. But he did not. He came later and brought the draft for the money. I was shocked.’
Adeboye said he later found out that he had gone to borrow the money. ‘But the good news is that he became the chairman of the bank he borrowed from.’
The RCCG Overseer then said seeking God first is the shortest way to get to the top citing the example of Solomon in the Bible who asked for wisdom instead of wealth but God ended up blessing him with so much wealth.
He cited several other examples of people who became outstanding because they chose to do the will of God first.
According to him, the purpose of prosperity must be to do the will of God. ‘You must ask yourself why do you want to prosper. The Bible encourages us to seek the kingdom of God first and other things will be added. ‘ he said.
Quoting several scriptures to authenticate his message, he said the believers’ purpose to get wealth should be to ‘attract more friends to the kingdom of God. It should be to be a kingdom treasurer and that the believer wants to populate God’s kingdom’
He said to whom much is given much is expected, adding that God should be number one in one’s agenda if one is to attain greatness.
