Kidnapped Pastor: People already taunting me on my claim that I hear from God-Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said it has been discovered that “only one pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God was kidnapped along with four other people” contrary to earlier report.

He made the clarification at about 9pm today while addressing pastors of the Church in what is termed solemn assembly holding at the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Express Way.

Church Times correspondent who was in the auditorium when the announcement was being made said Pastor Adeboye was quite sober as he made the announcement while calling for intense prayers for the release of the people kidnapped.

Adeboye told the congregation that it was important to make the clarification going by the earlier announcement that five pastors of the church had been kidnapped.

He however said that though one RCCG pastor was kidnapped it does not reduce from the gravity of the situation stating that he has been receiving calls from all over the world on the incident.

Kidnapped pastor: People taunting me

Adeboye said “people have been taunting me and challenging me that since I hear from God how come this is happening to your church pastors. I want to say it has been confirmed that only one pastor of the church was kidnapped along with four other people. That does not reduce from the weight of the incidence however. The church will continue to pray for the release of all those who have been kidnapped.”

Pastor Adeboye had reportedly announced earlier today that five pastors of the Church were abducted on their way to the annual Holy Ghost Convention of the church. They were said to have been kidnapped around Ijebu Ode axis as they were coming from Ondo State. But just at about 9 pm today, Adeboye announced to the ministers at the conference that it was only one pastor that was kidnapped along with four others.

Meanwhile the  Ogun State Police Command has released the names of five people erroneously tagged RCCG pastors.

The police also said they had located the forest where the five people were kept at the Ogbere – Ijebu – Ode (Ogun State) stretch of the Lagos –Ore expressway.

The names of the abducted people are Chidioze Eluwa, Chiemela Iroha, Okoro Ohowukwe, Ndubuizi Owuabueze, and Ibeleji Chidinma (female).

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi reportedly told news men that about 10 hoodlums, intercepted the commercial bus marked KW 230 XA in which the kidnapped victims were travelling from Abia State to Lagos.

Oyeyemi disclosed that the commercial bus, belonging to Abia line Transport Company, was intercepted at the J3 area of Ogbere in Ijebu Waterside local government area of the state.

He said the police had successfully “geolocate” the hideout of the kidnappers where the incident occurred, adding that the state’s Commissioner of Police (CP), Bashir Makama had led a powerful police rescue team to the location to rescue the victims.
