The Special Holy Ghost service of the Redeemed Christian Church of God took a novel turn in the early hours of March 8 when Pastor Enoch Adeboye started off his ministration recalling how he almost died seven years.
The incident according to him happened during one of the go-a-fishing programmes of the church for that year.
After the programme he said he was exhausted to the point that he knew his body could not carry him again..’I could not lift my body and was almost at the point of death. The devil thought he had got me.’ he said.
To save him from the unexpected, he said arrangements was quickly made to transport him to the Redemption Camp from Ilesha, Osun State where he was confined to the sick bed.
But he could not travel by road. He said, ‘they had to chatter a helicopter to bring me back to camp. If I had travelled by road I would have died.’
To take off with the helicopter was another challenge. ‘Some area boys decided that the helicopter would not take off. They clung to the helicopter and attempted to stop it.
‘But somehow I managed to get to the camp. I had an assurance that if only I could get to camp I would recover.’
God granted his wish.’
He said seven years after that experience the Lord has kept him in good health while also asking his listeners to praise God on his behalf for sparing his life.
‘I want you to thank God for sparing my life. Give him glory. Give him honour. Thank God for yourself that he spared your life also.’ Adeboye implored.
His counsel
At the programme, with the theme, Joy Unspeakable, Pastor Adeboye did not do much of sermonising. Rather, he made several declarations, praying for his listeners while assuring them their tomorrow will be alright.
He then then gave some counsel urging them not to sell their salvation. ‘When David fell his cry was that God would restore to him the joy of his salvation. So don’t sell your salvation.’
Again, he said, ‘Don’t leave his presence. In his presence there is fullness of joy ‘
Finally he urged the congregation to be addicted to soul winning. ‘You can’t give joy to others and lack joy.’ He said.
