“10 years in the midst of idol worshippers”

It started as an itinerant teaching and prayer ministry under the name Jesus Care Ministry in 2003. Today, it is called Christ Covenant Family and Prophetic Church. It became a church on October 28, 2005 through the leading of the Holy Spirit.
Today, the church which was founded by Pastor Michael Adunade has every cause to thank God and appreciate Him. That was what it did on October 31 2015 at 4, Magodo Estate Road, Isheri Oke in Berger Area of Lagos.
The church auditorium was filled to the brim as enthusiastic worshippers were full of praise to God who has seen them through the first ten years of the church. Pastor Adunade did not mince words in telling the congregation that only God deserves the praise. “He is the only one that we have to praise and worship. He has seen us through the thick and thin. He has been our help in ages past. There is every cause to thank him”
The church, according to him was established through the leading of the Holy Spirit to make people grow and mature as sons of God through proper teaching of the word of God and discipleship rather than making people to feed on miracles alone.
While disclosing that the present location of the church’s headquarters was opened on December 30, 2012 he said, “it is God that has enabled the church to attain its present height.”
It is instructive to note that the church is located in the midst of a thick population of idolaters. “I must say that God is giving us victory over the forces of darkness. Our church is not a conventional church in the sense that it is located in the midst of battle. There are all kinds of forces to contend with here. But the joy is that God is giving us victory. We are moving up the ladder of success by the day.” He said.
Adunade a graduate of University of Ilorin and the University of New Castle where he obtained a post graduate degree in water Resources and System Engineering has been in the field of God’s work since 1991 when he gave his life to Christ.
With a string of certificates in church related matters including a PhD in Church growth, Adunade has successfully been able to lead the sheep in his care with the passion of a shepherd.
The 10 years anniversary was witnessed by church leaders from across Lagos among whom was Dr. Mike Omole who spoke at the event on the theme, “What a mighty God we serve.”
He pointed out to the congregation that the awesomeness of God cannot be quantified. “It is difficult to describe the greatness of God.” He declared urging the congregation to submit themselves under the mighty arm of “this great God so they could experience His blessings.”
Sharing a personal testimony of God’s faithfulness in his own ministry, Omole said the work of God can only be done God’s way. “We can’t help God we can only key into his manifold mercy and provision.”
The highpoint of the anniversary was the poetic rendition of several scriptural verses by Sister Damola Adesina. She enthralled the audience by her performance bringing down the awesomeness of God. For well over 40 minutes, Adesina’s mastery of scriptures and ingenious ability to praise God held the audience spell bound. At a point the audience had to stand in awe in honour of God. The rendition brought a celestial experience to bear on the event of the day.
Adesina is well travelled poet and songwriter. She draws her inspiration largely from the Psalms and the book of Revelation where God’s majesty is more pronounced.
In a later chat with our correspondent, Adunade said that the ministry is largely involved in community development. “We relate with our community through a welfare programme which we carry out monthly. We reach out to ophanages, prison, old people’s home, maternity centres and a lot of other places where we extend the love of Christ.”
He expressed deep appreciation to all those who took time to attend the event which was also used to launch his new book: “The kingdom of God: foundation doctrines and spiritual warfare”
